Bush: "At this moment, somewhere in the world, terrorists are planning new attacks on our country"

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2008/02/14/national/main3829931.shtml

<snip>

Mr. Bush claims that unless the telecoms received assurance that they will not be sued for breaking the law (and therefore be liable for damages), those companies will not agree to enact future wiretaps, therefore undercutting the government's intelligence capabilities:

"If these companies are subjected to lawsuits that could cost them billions of dollars, they won't participate; they won't help us; they won't help protect America."

On Wednesday, after the Senate approved a bill granting immunity, the president for the first time admitted that the telecoms participated in the wiretaps which were not authorized by court-issued warrants - a violation of the Fourth Amendment.

Mr. Bush also raised the specter of what would happen if telecom immunity is not accepted by the House, by recalling the crime scene on 9/11:

"At this moment, somewhere in the world, terrorists are planning new attacks on our country. Their goal is to bring destruction to our shores that will make September the 11th pale by comparison."

26. I gotcha quote right heah...
"Our enemies are innovative and resourceful, and so are we. They never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people, and neither do we."

George W. Bush, Aug. 5, 2004, in a rare moment of unscripted candor.

And George is nothing if not a man of his word. So what did he actually mean?

Well, if you squint a little, you can just make out the old PNAC team assembled in the White House basement, gathered around a large-scale map of a mid-sized American city, consulting with blast intensity and radiation disbursement experts to locate the ideal spot to place a small (say 5 kiloton) nuke for maximum terror and minimum disruption of business functions.

The Iranian patsies are already in place, one of them ready to blow himself to protoplasm for the cause. They think they've been recruited to assist this guy on his suicide bombing mission; they think they're using Semtex, not nuclear weapons.

The primary and backup special ops teams are trained and ready to go. The official legend is complete and has been checked and rechecked literally hundreds of times to avoid the kinds of embarrassing inconsistencies and obvious impossibilities that threatens to crack the official 9/11 narrative wide open.

The financial community has been alerted so the right people can profit. Bush's speech to the nation is written, rehearsed and found convincing by a focus group composed of people with top secret security clearances. And the domestic repression aparatchiks are on 24-hour notice.

Elsewhere, in a secure conference room at the Department of War, the retaliatory attack on Iran is in the final planning stages. Israel has been deputized to lead the first strike; shock and awe tactics are approved and will be used again; bunker-busting conventional bombs will be used first but, if they're not successful in burrowing deep enough to uncover the alleged uranium enrichment facilities, tactical nukes are ready as back-ups.

So we've got the perps, the technicians, the patsies, the official story, the enforcers, the proxies and the righteous rhetoric all lined up and ready. All that's left is for Reichsmarshall Cheney to give the OK.

Ach. Pure fiction, I'm certain.

8. And that folks is the trump card bu$h holds over Congress' head
At every turn he threatens them with this attack shit. What attack would like for us to have let happen. They are preparing to attack us at this very moment, attack is imminent.
Unless you give me everything I want.

And Congress is too fucking afraid to call his bluff for fear of what the GOP would do with it IF something were ALLOWED to happen by the regime.

15. Did he finally pay the bill?
I thought the telecoms shut down this program because the "government" had not paid its bill? I guess they were more concerned about making money than in protecting the nation? And would they have done Mr. Bush this favor if he had not paid them??

16. Why doesn't anybody ever ask the fool just why he can't get the warrants from the FISA court? The
orginial bill set the thing up so that basically all they had to do was ask. Or are they now 'authorized' to track every single phone call any person makes into or out of the country?

if I've ever heard it. He really means we are planning to wage war on Iran, with Israel, in the near future. Why is everyone asleep at the wheel while these Constitution-Shredders destroy our life, liberty and pursuit of happiness by spying on us in our own homes.
