This it the R Spin of the Day getting pushed about. Who sends out TPMs like this?

Personally, I'd say the Rs ran away from BUSH, Bolton, and Meirs, to avoid campaign ads linking them to criminals!!

Pelosi is Running Out the Clock on FISA
Posted by: Amanda Carpenter at 12:52 PM = http://www.townhall.com/blog/g/3cb22feb-a58a-4627-bedf-9d9378013a65

Instead of working to reauthorize FISA legislation, the Democratic House of Representatives is using precious floor time to debate charges of contempt against former White House aide Josh Bolton and former White House counsel Harriet Miers.

The FISA bill, which regulates how the government monitors terrorist communications, expires Saturday. Hugh talked about how important this law is here.

Congress usually leaves town on Thursday evenings--just a few hours from now. And, we know Pelosi is eager to get back home this weekend because of her daughter's wedding.

Update 1:51 pm: Republican members of the House are staging a walkout to protest Democratic leadrship's decision to pursue contempt votes instead of doing any FISA work.

1. Isn't that Hugh Hewitt's cess pool of a blog?
If so, I'm not giving him a click.

If not, I'm sorry for my error.

2. So what if she's running out the clock?
Nothing is probably the best thing to do about FISA. Let the damn thing expire and sue the fuck out of Bush's corporate co-conspirators.

17. So what? It's wonderful!
If the House doesn't act, then there's no conference committee where some Dem senators would collude with GOPers to slip telecom immunity into the conference report. And there's no reauthorization at all of expanded wiretapping.

19. They don't want amnesty for undocumented workers, who're, gasp, illegal.
But they want to give amnesty for illegal acts by telecom companies. Go figure.

21. You're not the first to raise this point, but it should be raised more often.
You can cut their hypocrisy with a machete.

5. I will believe it when I see it
When Sunday morning rolls around and the House didn't cave, then I will believe it.

They have a history of caving to this terrorist who sits in the White House

12. I like that idea,
let * sign the extension or let the law expire, then it goes back to the old law and back to getting warrants for their spying.

13. soooooo, what you are saying is...
she's bringing up real important contempt of congress work to run out the clock.

In other words, the contempt of congress stuff is less important than the FISA bill...

I know, I know, I read a lot into that. No flaming please.

I'm just pissed that they are using the contempt of congress as a "stalling" technique.

20. She's running out the clock on the "GUT FISA Act"
and that's just fine with me. FISA will still protect us, as long as those who wish to eavesdrop go to the judge and get a warrant. No problem.
