And I haven't even had the chance to my usual extra donations. I'm still going to, and I think Skinner et al. usually continue passing out the hearts until the usual end of the fundraising. I encourage each of you who were waiting on that Friday check to still donate. The bumper sticker is still as great as it ever was. I've actually seen a few of them on the butts of cars around here. I saw one on the Troll once too, or I put one there, I don't quite remember.
But I wanted to bring up something around this fundraising thingy. See, I don't know if you guys were paying attention, being that beating one another senseless in that other forum seems to be the game 'o the day, but our illustrious leaders have been having some problems with ad income. They've come up with some creative ideas to fix the ad income problem and I hope it's working for them. I just think we ought to consider upping the goal to 1200 contributions. Not so EarlG can have that private jet he's been lusting after, but so that this website can continue to improve, so it can go from the number one political discussion site to the uber, best, number one political discussion site. If you need a reference for what too little money spent on a political website looks like, I refer you to FR, they have a snazzy (not) POS interface for their discussion board.
I'm not asking us to pay more so we can pound FR into the ground, they're already there and they don't need our help, but rather to continue to improve this kick ass site. I, for one, have been almost universally pleased with each upgrade and these days I get to say things like, "Ya know, back in the day, there weren't none of that fancy Greatest Page and Specialty forum stuff". It makes me feel like an old timer, heh heh.
I don't really know the owners of this list, other than having met Skinner at a meet and greet the night before one of those marches in DC that the corporate media would deny ever happened. I met EarlG at the same march and we talked a bit. Frankly, I'm unsure if they ever let Elad out of the basement, but that is neither here nor there. My point is, I'm going maverick here, none of them have put me up to this, and in fact, I've poked Skinner a few times with this idea and I guess he just thinks changing poopy diapers is more fun than replying to my crazy ass ideas. ;)
So what do you guys think? Do we want them to keep scrambling for ad revenue or do we want to come up with a more direct way to increase revenue for this fine site?
