3. There is far too much in that article to address...

But you might mention to your friend that we have already spent 400 billion dollars on the Iraq occupation, which makes a lot of the spending in that article look like a drop in a bucket.

And the fact that government spends money on this or that does not make it "communism" or "socialism". Only a simple-minded twit like Beck would argue that it does.


The contention that nations with nationalized healthcare are "decentralizing" is deceptive, since they are not moving in the direction of a US-style corporate fleecing system. And some of the changes many countries are making in their systems are in response to PRESSURE from the Bush government. But the proof is in the pudding that the US health system is ecorbitantly expensive and provides substandard care for some, no care for many, so the chances that any civilized countries would want to emulate our failed system are NIL.
