Can Someone Explain To Me Why We Can Go After Businesses That Hire Illegal Immigrants
because illegal immigrants are committing a crime for being here and working here illegally.

But we can't go after gun stores or gun manufacturers when their product is used in the commission of a crime?

1. Because gun laws, thousands though they may be, are all carefully crafted to be useless.

Because gun laws, thousands though they may be, are all
carefully crafted to be useless. And where they are not
useless, they are limited in scope (so one state has tight
regulations but is surrounded by neighbors with loose reg-
ulations.) And where they're not limited in scope, they're
arranged to be conflicting.

This is what happens when you allow the lobbyists (paid and
unpaid) for an industry to write the laws that regulate that
industry.

8. Because a gun is a legal product and
we have a right to keep and bare arms. If I go out and run down 5 people with my Toyota should we be able to go after Toyota because their product is used in the commission of a crime.

16. That's ridiculous, if that's the way all Obamians
think the Republicans will have you for lunch. Just take the position supporting illegal immigration and gun confiscation and we will see 8 more years of Republican control.

9. two words -- political contributions
After all, when the gun lobby has their own personal *trained seals* in Congress, you can bet you'll see a gazillion laws enacted to *protect* the stores and manufacturers.

Oh yeah, you cannot forget those 2nd ammendment wanks, either. :eyes:

10. If gun stores sell guns illegally
They are prosecuted and/or lose their license. The problem is we don't put enough manpower into it because they cry to the NRA. We have to go after pot stores in San Francisco.

13. Er, what? How is this even remotely comparable?
It isn't a crime to sell a gun as long as they follow applicable laws regarding background checks or waiting periods, etc...

14. What have you been smoking??
Actions taken against employers for hiring illegal workers has gone down 95% under Dubya. I think the other 5% must be real bad offenders, like they also contribute to Democrats.

15. So we should go after
box cutter manufacturers because of 9/11?

We go after businesses that hire illegal immigrants not because the immigrants are committing crimes but because the business is committing a crime. It's illegal to hire an employee. It's not illegal to manufacture guns. It seems like a very apple to oranges type argument to me.

A counter example to guns is: it's illegal to make crystal meth and we go after businesses that make this product.

17. Because hiring people in the country illegally is illegal,
and selling guns is not.
