(I checked urban legends, but didn't see anything

Financial Skullduggery

If Hillary wins in 2008 and Bill is 'appointed' to fill her Senate seat and either live to retire 'they' (together or alone) would get two US Presidential retirement checks, two US Senate retirement checks, and a retirement check from the State of Arkansas . About the only thing they MIGHT NOT get is a Social Securitycheck....but I wouldn't bet on it....

I understand ole Bill has earned $40,000,000 in the past six years.

W hat a guy!

AND THE REST OF THE STORY... Hilarious Rotten Clinton, as a New York State Senator, now comes under the 'Congressional Retirement and Staffing Plan,' which means that even if she never gets reelected, she STILL receives her Congressional salary until she dies. (Would it not be nice if all Americans were pension eligible a after only 4 years?)

If Bill outlives her, he then inherits HER salary until HE dies. He is already getting his Presidential salary until he dies. If Hillary outlives Bill, she also gets HIS salary until she dies. Guess who pays for that?

It's common knowledge that in order for her to establish NY residency, they purchased a million dollar-plus house in upscale Chappaqua, New York . Makes sense!

They are entitled to Secret Service protection for life.

Still makes sense.

Here is where it becomes interesting. Their mortgage payments hover at around $10,000 per month. BUT, an extra residence 'had' to be built within the acreage to house the Secret Service agents.

The Clintons charge the Federal government $10,000 monthly rent for the use of that extra residence, which is about equal to their mortgage payment. This means that we, the taxpayers, are paying the Clinton's salary, mortgage, transportation, safety and security, as well as the salaries for their 12 man staff -- and, this is all perfectly
legal!

It reads like a bunch of right-wing misinformation.

No link for the $40 mil that President Clinton supposedly has earned since leaving office.

on edit: Oh, I see. The idiot writer is ASSuming that President Clinton will be appointed a US Senator.

5. Obviously you have erred
HRC is in her second 6 year term as NY senator. She will get the same retirement as all other senators. As for the house, here in the New York area that they live in, a 1 million dollar house is not unusual. Where would you have an ex-president live, in a cabin in the swamp somewhere. The Bush crime family has stolen more from us then the Clinton and Rodham family's together have ever made in their history. If you don't like HRC as a candidate, that's ok with me, but don't run this garbage. It's an insult to DU and the intelligence of the posters here.

9. In the case of other Presidents, has the federal government paid the rent
to house Secret Service personnel assigned to protect them? Whether they reside on the same property as the ex-President or property owned by someone else next to it, I would assume that rent is routinely paid. If so, then I see nothing wrong with any of this. I have never been a big Bill Clinton supporter, but this case is so exceptional, with two potential Presidents in the same family that I see nothing wrong with any of it. The average family doesn't have two Presidents or former Presidents in it, or people with the political drive and will to be so successful in the political arena, whether you like their politics or not.

11. Policies that apply equally to W, and to Boehner, and to DeLay, and so on.
But don't worry -- Obama will keep HRC from getting that presidential pension.
