Why does Felipe Calderón speak far better English than George W. Bush?
Mr. Tesha and I were just watching Felipe Calderón (the
President of Mexico) on the News Hour and Mr. Tesha
asked me the same thing I was already thinking:

"Why does Felipe Calderón speak far better English than
George W. Bush?"

There's no doubt that it's true but what's the answer?
And shouldn't we be at least a teeny, tiny bit embarrassed
as a country by that fact?

Tesha

3. Ugh... remember when he was in Rome last June?

...
Q Thank you. You've just told us that you and President Bush have just returned from your G8 summit. Now, the outcomes that have been stated on the many issues that you discussed -- climate, development, and the missile shield -- now, are those real -- is that real progress, or not? And the deadline for the Kosovo independence --

PRESIDENT BUSH: What? Say that again?

Q Deadline for the Kosovo independence?

PRESIDENT BUSH: A decline?

Q Deadline, deadline.

PRESIDENT BUSH: Deadline. Beg your pardon. My English isn't very good. (Laughter.)

...

He was in Italy (where they speak Italian!). Yet the reporters spoke English for this dope. AND THEIR ENGLISH WAS BETTER THAN HIS.

What an embarrassment!

11. Yes but can Felipe Calderon make primitive grunts as effectively as George Bush?
Can he hunch his shoulders, bob his head up and down, and pan the room while he makes primitive grunts as well as George Bush? Can Felipe Calderon say "nuuculer"? You have to give Bush some credit for his skills.
