I found out today that I was approved for SSD, (Social Security Disability.)
Here's the prior thread:

What a relief. This has been almost a five month process just to get approved on the first round. It also includes Medicare, which will cover the hospitalization and Dr bills I had for kidney failure after I applied for disability.

What a relief and load off my mind. And SSD will back pay retroactively up to a year before the application date. I'm not sure of the details yet, but they will at least cover monthly payments from when I first applied in September.

Life is good, and I am so relieved that I just had to share with everyone. It was the best possible outcome, and I was expecting the worst, and endless Appeals.

So, I can concentrate on my next order of business now. I am so curious about who gave me a heart! Fess up! And put me out of my misery!

13. Thank you so much to those who replied.
They did ask for a consult with my Dr. in December that I did a month ago in mid January. Took a month to get in to see him and that kinda pissed me off that they didn't ask for that when I first applied in September.

After that visit, my Dr. was certain that I would be approved. I just didn't want to get my hopes up until I had the decision in hand. Know what I mean?

But all is good now, in the end.

14. Great news!
I'm sorry, though, that you're having problems and hope the docs can get you fixed up. Thankfully we have a system that allows people like you to get some needed help.

The very best to you!

15. My husband had a stroke at 56 and received SSI...
what a godsend...it paid money for our then 13 year old who now at 22 uses it for college...which she never would have been able to afford after his stroke. Let's hope our next prez keeps it up and even improves SSI. Good luck and congratulations...it isn't easy to get approved.

24. I do feel fortunate, and all my medical bills will be paid. In addition,
I have also had laryngitis since last October, and need to go outpetient for a throat biopsy. Now I can do that next month, or when I get a Medicaid number.

17. good for you. I am a 100% myself. I've heard all kinds of horror stories, but
nothing like that happened with me.

If your city has homesteading exemption see if you apply. This is if you own your house. It could save you a lot of money on property taxes. Check with the PVA.

21. i know just how good that feels.
like the vast majority of applicants, i was denied on my first attempt, so i lawyered up, and got it on the second try. there's no better feeling in the world right at that moment. and all for a monthly check that isn't even all that much.
congratulations.
you earned it.
