The little Dictator flies off to Africa in a huff...
For the last six months, he has had the authority to spy on whomever he wishes without a court warrant. That authority expired yesterday. He said our country would be vulnerable to an attack if that authority was not continued. So the Democratic House agreed to extend his authority by 21 more days - until they could work out a suitable compromise. Mr Bush said "No!" His Republican lemmings in Congress followed him over the cliff and walked off the floor of the House in protest of a vote of Contempt against Miers and Bolten. Unanimously they agreed that it would be better to leave the country vulnerable than to grant an extension of 21 days of the present law. Think about the consequences of this action. The President and the Republicans, by their own admission, prefer to leave our country more "vulnerable" rather than agree to a 21-day extension. If only America could see what is happening with this little Dictator and his campaign of fear.

1. Bush in Africa, Congress out of town, Cheney in charge
and Iran openly stating "we don´t need your dollars".

Is that something we can worry about?

8. He's Out "Hunting"
If it involves the price of oil going up, crashcart is always onboard. I firmly believe this the sabre rattling at Iran is done to keep the prices high that sure do wonders to the cheney family fortune.

I hear boooshie wants to meet the President of the Africans...find out how they get those bones through their noses.

9. Yes, and I'm scared. * would get the chance to fly back (a la Terry Schiavo) and
pretend to assume power from Uncle Dick, who's the real lever-puller.

You have good reason to hide behind that stone wall.

12. It´s not the authority that is the problem, it´s the power which
others have to tell him what to do and what to say and how to think.

That´s why we should buy lots of popcorn and hide behind walls. :-)

33. You're probably right. A dollar doesn't go as far as it used to.
I used to even propose that they could also keep Air Force One as part of the deal, but even THAT didn't attract any nibbles. Obviously, I misunderestimated their ability to recognize a bad deal when they saw one.

If we had an honest media, America would, indeed, see and understand clearly what's happening. You and I are old enough to recall how clearly we all knew what was going on in Viet Nam and Watergate ......

22. The most outrageous thing he did this week was to quickly
give sympathy to the family's of the slain kids in Illinois, and then rant about FISA and how the terrorists are out there trying to kill us and that Congress was irresponsible, etc.

And the chimp didn't even sense the irony....

Edited on Sat Feb-16-08 12:20 PM by JimboDem
can go a long way... just sayin'...."The origins of the word dengue are not clear, but one theory is that it is derived from the Swahili phrase "Ka-dinga pepo", which describes the disease as being caused by an evil spirit."

And, I hope Cheney's pacemaker batteries were made in China.

27. Think about the consequences? First, we have to cut through the rhetoric.
We all know that the "country would be vulnerable to attack if this doesn't pass" meme is a lot of horsepuckey. The only thing we are vulnerable to is a violation of the Fourth Amendment by the White House squatter and telecom corporations. As for the telecom corporations, they are vulnerable to lawsuits, as they should be.

I don't know if we are really safer this morning than we have been in years, but that's because their is no guarantee that just because the law expired last night that Bush and the NSA aren't listening to us still. The idea that the government could collect information in that volume, analyze it for what they are looking (I know, it's a stretch to give them the benefit of that doubt) and stop a terrorist strike before it happens is patently absurd.

As for the Little Dictator going off to Africa, I hope he stays there. He can share lodgings with Charles Taylor.

32. We have been vulnerable to the little man for seven years.
When he says we are "vulnerable" count on it. Declaring vulnerability is a pass to allow us to be attacked. In another time a President who made such a declaration would would be even more reviled than Bush the worst ever. Pure Republican Treason
