Does anyone know anything about setting up "donation " threads?

Does anyone know anything about setting up "donation"threads? We have a DUIer who is about to lose their home and it would be nice to be able to help them. I do not have access to anything like paypal or anything else. I know some folks have done such efforts and I am asking for some help.I know we need permission but what else is entailed? I would like to get someone with experience involved. Thanks.

5. First you ask Skinner

Then you are allowed one post. Put all of your information in that. You have to have a disclaimer.
There needs to be a Paypal fund set up or some way to get donations to them.
Just write a posting explaining their circumstances. You will have to give their name so make sure it is okay with them first.

9. Andy Stephenson...here at DU...died of pancreatic cancer a few years ago.

There was a fundraising drive here and a subsequent protest by freepers claiming a hoax that ultimately resulted in getting the funds (meant for his treatment) frozen until after he died.

Whomever organized that certainly knows all of the ins and outs...
