So, did Al Franken win his primary? Is he the Democratic candidate for Senate in MN? |
|
Pardon my ignorance, but these questions are not actually answered on the website.
Did that not get decided in the February 8th caucuses? (cauci?)
Thanks in advance for your help and wise knowledge.

At our caucuses on Feb. 5 we cast only the presidential preference votes to determine the number of the presidential candidates' delegates at the national convention. But the rest of the proceedings involved selecting delegates to the district conventions and voting on proposed resolutions. The delegates to the district conventions will in turn select delegates to the state convention in June, and that's where the party will endorse a Senate candidate. After that we will have an actual primary election to select the candidate who will actually run against (eww) Norm "The Weasel" Coleman. The endorsed candidate doesn't always win the primary.
I hope that makes sense.
It doesn't, much, to me; but that's how it's done here.

2. Same thing in Florida. |

We had a presidential preference primary already, but the primaries for all other offices are in late August or early September.

3. I believe that at least the two main candidates for the democratic |
|
nomination for senate have agreed to abide by the party endorsement, if so the endorsed candidate from the state convention will be our candidate.
