It has now been 2 hours, 54 minutes and 56.85 seconds since FISA ceased to exist and I'm looking out my window now, not exactly sure where the terrorists plan to strike. Even scarier is the fact the defeatocrats set the bill to expire on Nova Scotia time, like a cruel joke before the end comes. Still, I remain firm and resolved to survive the upcoming assaults. No doubt the terrorists are sending flurries of emails to each other even now, organizing to strike the heart of our nation, but come what I may I will be ready.

I've purchased several carts of bottled water, duct tape, and frozen food, along with a large supply of discounted valentine chocolate from the store. I can't discount the possibility the terrorists will hit local power plants, but all I've managed to do so far is Macgyver a wind up emergency flashlight to power my fridge and microwave. In the morning, if I'm lucky, there will be some gasoline generators still functional in the rubble.

I deeply regret my hesitation, as it was not till yesterday I attempted to get proper protection. The storekeeper was not impressed by the upcoming threat and said there was still a waiting period for a handgun, despite the fact the jihadofacists are here TODAY! I've been watching outside my window for suspicious activity and have already called in a report on a small group of terrorist aged middle eastern men, though it's dark and they may have been Mexicans. Damn those open borders, letting terrorists slip across unhindered and now using cell phones with impunity!

.................

Beginning in the morning, I will blog every day when the sun is highest in the sky to rally survivors together. I can provide food, shelter, and protection. I can, at least, be thankful it's still February and cold. The islamomarxists are far more adapted to the heat and our battle will only be harder then. I pray we can provide retroactive telecom immunity before it comes to that, but in this day and age I always prepare for the worst.

For all of you still out there, good luck and God speed.

2. We are now operating under the original 1978 FISA law. The only things that expired are
... Bush's revisions to it, ( and renamed the *Protect America* Act), namely the telecom immunity provision and the compliance provision that forced the telecoms to give Bush what he wanted.

Just so there is no confusion.

17. As if that even matters to them. You know they're still recording everything, law or no law.
These aren't people who care about petty details like LAWS.

21. Great post
FISA has not expired. Bush's fascist sounding Protect America Act expired -no immunity for telecoms.

If you were a terrorist and wanted to make Bush look like a real idiot (to everybody, not just the 71%ers), wouldn't you want you attack to occur like fifteen minutes before the law expired?

WHERE IS YOUR FISA LAW NOW, MONKEY BOY????

14. Has it really?! The Protect America ACT could *still* come back.
Edited on Mon Feb-18-08 01:51 AM by mojowork_n
Like those late night TV ads for kitchen gadgets (but wait, there's more!), or the broomsticks multiplying in the Sorcerer's Apprentice, or the hordes of undead, brain-munching zombies in a formula horror flick,
there could be some twitchy, spastic life, left in the Patriot Act.

More than the Republicans want you to know.

(The better to get in their completely gratuitous rips at the "trial lawyer's lobby," and hit us with that "cynical, self-serving opportunism" frame.)

The Director of National Intelligence and the Attorney General have the right to extend the act for up to one year.

It was all explained here, at dKos:

http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2008/2/14/161731/200/776/456884

"...Section 2 authorizes the DNI and AG to issue orders authorizing the surveillance authorized by the PAA for periods of up to a year, notwithstanding the sunset. That puts the onus on the DNI and AG to authorize surveillance before Saturday, and not on the Congress to renew it before then."

But I would add, that to really take advantage of the perceived lapsing of FISA, the DNI and AG could have authorized extending surveillance... last week... without telling anybody.

What better way to fool the terrorists, lull them into a false sense of security (along with their lobbying wing, the Democratic Party), and truly Protect America?

We're going to have to pry those microphones, and data mining filters, out of their cold, dead hands.

Or that's what they'd tell us, if they wouldn't have to kill us, first. (If they did.)

Edit Addendum:
Or, they'll just take their own sweet time, to let everyone know the Act's been extended. Is there a law that says they can't? That's the way those guys think, along the lines of gangsters, Trotskyites, or cultists. ("You're with us, or you're against us." No shades of gray, or subtler tints of color, between the darkness and the light.)

15. I'm sorry. You are out of luck. There is a lunar eclipse tomorrow night.
The islamofashionists have awaited a convergence of a lunar eclipse and lack of FISA to schedule the complete end of our wild partying. Aparently you did not store cans of tuna under the bed. Who's sorry now?

If you see this tomorrow evening in the eastern sky, you will know it's too late.

Am I missing something...other than the imminent attack by the terrorists, of course?
