Hey I've got to go post somewhere else SOME of the time: suggestions?
Edited on Mon Feb-18-08 08:32 AM by Tyler Durden
I don't mean GDP. And I certainly don't mean here in GD. I mean some other web site.

As short a time as 2004 I could climb into the muck and trade punches with the best of you, and did on a regular basis. Why? Because I saw some POINT to all of this; now all I see is infighting, shit throwing, and cults of personality.

I didn't sign up for this.

I have enough bad Karma from a long life of compromise and rationalization without taking on any more of the "You are! No, YOU are! And your Momma!" that just will not stop here. Franklin Roosevelt would be raised from the dead healed of his paralysis just so he could smack most of the partisans in the mouth if he could hear the hate and dismissal: condescending condemnation, inspirational bloviating, brickbats thrown in the name of fair play.

I can't do this all the time, and this is one of the last places I in my sick co-dependency, feel connected anymore. But I'm too old for ULTIMATE FIGHTING. There isn't even an unbiased referee.

So I'm looking for suggestions. I don't care if they are "...I'll take pity on the poor old bastard..." or "...hey, my chance to send this clown and his crock of shit somewhere else to peddle his papers..." And I'm not looking for any "PLEASE STAY!"s either. I'm not LEAVING, I just can't do this all the time anymore. The venom has become toxic, and I feel like I'm being attacked from all sides by zombies who just haven't succumbed to the poison...yet.

When I came here after December 12, 2000, I was looking for solidarity and closure. For a long time, I felt that; but not so much anymore. Maybe again sometime; who knows?

So I need a place to hide about half of the time, but still talk about some issues...RATIONALLY. I'm looking for suggestions without getting somebody acting like a yahoo and telling me to not let the door smack me in the ass: after all, I'm really not leaving. I'm too much of a masochist for that: after all, I am a member of the Democratic Party.

PM's are fine. Just somewhere with PARTICIPATION without ERADICATION.

Edited to clear up a clumsy paragraph.

1. Daily KOS?
I sometimes go to other websites, but the format here is so much better than anyone else's. This is definitely a better website. If you want to get into a real fight fest, go to a forum on AOL. That'll drive you crazy in about five minutes.

2. Here's a list of DU-ers' blogs from the Research Forum

And I like to look in on The Economic Populaist every now and then. Some good contributions by folks who believe demand-side economics has been deglected in favor of the supply-side scam.

3. LOL
I am with you all the way. I am not leaving here but damn, I find little to care about these days. Perhaps in the future it will return to issues and problem solving. Hope so, there are too many really smart and good people here to have it stay like this. :hi:

4. You might like the Rockridge Nation.
Problem solving through framing. It's a progressive think tank.

10. Welcome...
I get occasional emails from the site, but I don't spend as much time there as I probably should. The whole idea/concept of framing fascinates me. Words are such powerful things, and when used deceptively like this lying regime, downright dangerous.
They had a discussion the other day about the differences between spin and framing. Interesting.

5. Go to "perspectives.com" or "speakfreeamerica" for
political discussion. Lots of morons and nukers at "perspectives.com" though

11. This was a great little community, post 2004 election ->
Common Ground Common Sense http://www.commongroundcommonsense.org/forums/

Although it will cost $7.95 for a one year membership to post, and it looks like the activity level has dropped off somewhat, the name of the place says it all (especially after dwelling in GD-P for more than one minute).
