Is Gore sitting out of the race because of Hillary? |
|
Think about it, both of them represent the "Clinton legacy" in one way or another. With Gore, it's being his Vice President for eight years, while with Hillary it's being his wife and First Lady. How would Gore approach Hillary during such a campaign? While he could criticize her on Iraq, what about other issues? Wouldn't their primary debates look more like re-enactments of squabbles from the White House's Situation Room? What do you think?

3. But how would they run against each other? |
|
If they get dragged down into a bloody primary, they might even get to the point where they inadvertently attack themselves, as they are both taking credit for Bill Clinton's record in many cases.

4. Gore's views are diametrically opposed to Clinton's in many areas. NT |

7. Even in 2000, Gore ran as the un-Clinton. |
|
I don't think Gore and Hillary are even close to each other on many issues. She's corporatist; he's not. I've never heard her come down hard on environmental issues, either; and Gore has strongly criticized the Iraq mess, while Hillary just tapdances around her vote for the IRW. They are very different.

5. I think he's "sitting out" because it's still too early. And... |
|
there is also the possibility that he has not intention of running. After all, having the presidency stolen did leave a bad taste in his mouth, as he stated similarly in An Inconvenient Truth.

9. He is sitting out the bloody fight that is going to leave HRC as the pundits |
|
unopposed "Front Runner" before Iowa. The AG will wade in to give the real Democrats a choice in OUR Primary.

11. I think he has figured it would be a good time to sit on the sideline |
|
and let the other candidates beat each other up, but I also think he won't run unless things look real good to jump in later.

6. I think it is a lame attempt to blame Hillary for something she has nothing to do with. |
|
Honestly who needs Hannity when we have such rabid and constant attacks of her. It is old.

doing something else he likes to do, protecting the environment and trying to educate the people to the problems that confront us all.

10. I think we'd be surprised at how professionally they would interact... |
|
My gut tells me they would both avoid criticising each other because it would only backfire. Their camps would inadvertantly bolster the other, and in that respect, it seems that Gore entering would almost ensure a two-way race with Hillary in the primary, which would be really interesting to see...

12. Gore has the luxery of time. He's kind of a shoe-in if he runs. He could enter in |
|
September and be our nominee by St. Patty's day.
Gore could make a great case for single payer fee for service health-care.
Gore is free of the Clinton Legacy. He changed direction and started making speeches at Move-on venues and DFA conventions and he's busy doing creative stuff with creative people.
I think Gore is biding his "time time time, because it's on his side, yes it is."
