OK,this is the mentality we will be battling against for President
A recent exchange in my local paper(guess which one is my mom)

http://www.thedailylight.com/articles/2008/02/14/opinion/doc47b4a4753bafb375396242.txt
To the Editor,

I am a long time Mike Huckabee supporter, but the recent poll numbers and primary results have shown that no matter what happens, John McCain will win the Republican nomination. I have heard talk from conservatives that a no-show is in the works to protest McCain’s nomination. Others talk about voting for third parties or a write-in. This is the worst mistake to make on election day, other than voting for the Democratic nominee.

On March 4, we must vote for John McCain and guarantee him the 140 winner-take-all delegates Texas offers. The quicker we guarantee him the nomination, the longer we have to unite as a party and win over the conservative independent voters. If we keep Mike Huckabee in the race, we will suffer the same division that faces and endangers the Democratic Party.

We must also pledge to vote for John McCain in November, because a vote for a third party, write-in or a no-show is as good as voting for the Democratic Party. We need to put our differences aside and unite as Republicans to keep the radical liberals at bay and make sure tax hikes and a disaster in Iraq are safely confined in the dreams of the Democratic candidate.

We must support John McCain with full effort all the way to convention. A victory in Texas would help ensure a victory on Nov. 8 in the general election. No politician is perfect, but we must stand behind the candidate who can beat the Democratic nominee.

Kevin Crouch,

Waxahachie

" Dear Kevin,

There is another argument which might make some sense. The Huckabee Factor is keeping the GOP race in the news in a year heavily favoring the Democrats.

I am voting for Dr. Ron Paul in order to honor the most consistently principled political official in my lifetime.

I respect the necessity of uniting to defeat gross socialism in the Fall, if it's possible, but we have time. The Hillary and Barack battle is going to get worse before it gets better (something for which I blame the Clintonian infection of politics and not Obama).

God bless

" To both of you thank you for your ideas and suggestion- I want our party to be united but I would like all to have their right to vote as well. I am a Huckabee supporter and I respect him and Dr. Paul and I believe their voices need to be heard. I do believe in Miracles because I am one myself- there is not anything to hard for God and if it is His will for the nomination to be over so be it- I WILL NOT vote this election if McCain gets the nomination. Be Blessed "

" Wow-what a great endorsement forJohn McCain-let's hold our noses and vote for a candidate we can't stand. The Democratic Party will win because the Republican Party has ruined the economy, our military, and any chance of acheiving the "American Dream". "

" This is Kevin Crouch, and I must reply to the last comment.

It sounds to me like you want the Democrats in office. Fact is, we live in a Free Market, and it should be up to the people NOT the Government to improve it. Now if you do want the government controlling the economy...I hear Venezuala has a great Socialism program!

I don't like John McCain all that much either...but I flat out hate the Democratic Candidates, and I will do just about anything to stop them. "

1. all the more reason to get the frame out there NOW
this needs to be made clear NOW, not after the convention.

McCain is the presumptive nominee, the only one out there running against him is Huckabee. Romney has thrown his support behind McCain.

with the exception of a formal nomination - McCain's the GOP pick. As such, under the guise of primary/caucuses - McCain is really in the GE round of campaigning. He essentially has 4 month jump on the DEM nominee, clear playing field, doesn't have to defend himself against other GOPers attacking, he can and already has taken swipes at Obama and to a lesser extent at Clinton.

By the time the Dem convention has selected it's nominee - McCain will have honed the "message" and defined them.

Clinton and Obama and yes all of us that post, blog, work on campaigns, or just talk to other people need to define McCain NOW.

McCain - More of the Same
McCain - More WARS, Less jobs
McCain - same as bush, just older
McCain = 4 more years of the SAME

4. I don't understand all the support for
John McCain. That man scares the hell out of me. He ought to scare everyone else also. When I hear him speak I think Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.

5. We need to start fighting the pubs NOW!
They are NOT going to just hand it all to our nominee! Whomever we choose is going to be attacked like a pack of sharks in a feeding frenzy.

7. what makes me laugh
is how the pubs go on and on about "socialism" as if it is the worst evil and nasty thing in the world. But ask them if they are willing to let go of their Social Security and Medicare! If they're on it, or close to retirement, they will say no.

I can't help but wonder if these clowns would be so "free market" if they were one of the poor folks who lost their pensions to the Enron thieves or whose jobs were outsourced so that a CEO could make an extra million or two.

8. How could anybody argue against the brilliance of Kevin? I guess he believes the
Federal Reserve system and the 'dumping' off $billions into the banking system isn't the government controlling the economy.
