A Sign of What's to Come....
Homeless May Be Sleeping In Foreclosed Homes
POSTED: 11:37 am EST February 18, 2008
UPDATED: 1:03 pm EST February 18, 2008

CLEVELAND -- A recent report found fewer homeless people sleeping in downtown Cleveland.

The Northeast Ohio Coalition for the Homeless said one reason for the drop may be that there are so many foreclosed homes.

They said it is possible homeless people are becoming squatters by using the vacant houses instead of shelters.

That economy sure is booming. :sarcasm:

1. When enough McMansions get trashed by homeless
people squatting in them, then the banks finally wise up and start renting the foreclosed homes to the former owners as a way to keep them occupied and kept up by folks who were once responsible enough to lend to.

Abandoned properties always attract vagrants and vermin. They will always get trashed and a goodly number of them burned down when the vermin destroy the wiring or the vagrants burn newspapers on a tile floor to keep warm.

2. a house we moved out of once went vacant, i guess migrants squatted, they put sand in the middle of
the floor and built a campfire on it to cook and keep warm... it burned a big hole in the floor 4 feet across, good thing the firehouse was just across the street...

it was a heavily agricultural area with no homeless at all, migrants slept in old cars, bushes along the old highway 99, camps all along the rivers..
