Michael Scheuer, Former CIA, Best Selling Author Of Imperial Hubris & Marching Toward Hell On TYT
In his 22-year career, he served as the Chief of the Bin Laden Issue Station (aka "Alec Station"), from 1996 to 1999, the Osama bin Laden tracking unit at the Counterterrorist Center. He then worked again as Special Advisor to the Chief of the bin Laden unit from September 2001 to November 2004. He's also the author of a new book, Marching Toward Hell.

Here's the interview: http://youngturks.wmod.llnwd.net/a591/o1/2-15-08Scheuer.wmv

While he makes some good points, he's INCREDIBLY isolationist IMO. I don't think we should go as far as he'd like to go with regard to disengaging so broadly with our foreign policy. But maybe some of you disagree.

PS---You can always watch the Show Live 3-5 pm ET, with a Rolling Post Game 5-7 pm daily Monday-Friday at www.theyoungturks.com The RPG often contains political talk but also many non-political topics to lighten things up (and yes, that audio may not necessarily be work-safe).

Also, if you can't watch live, the 3-5pm portion of the show (politics) streams the rest of the day, all day right after the Post Game Show ends leading up to the initial show at 3pm.

1. This guy is very knowledgeable and his observations on the culture
are in line with what I experienced. His "Imperial Hubris" is required reading.

2. He is very knowledgeable
He is very knowledgeable but I also think he is a bit extreme. He reminds me of Ron Paul in that way.

3. Dead on with the Ron Paul foreign policy comparison
The same thought crossed my mind.

4. Oh sure he is pretty hard core, but he tells it like he sees it.

His insights into how we are losing the war can't be faulted.
