Please Help Stop Amazon from Selling Dog Fighting Publications
I apologize if this is a repost however I just found out about this issue and I would like others here to be aware of it.

The Humane Society has launched an effort to stop Amazon.com from selling magazines, books, DVDs and other materials that promote dog fighting and cock fighting.

While I certainly understand the first amendment issues, and that Amazon is not condoning their content, these materials clearly promote practices that exploit the suffering of living creatures. Dog fighting is cruel and abusive and causes enormous pain, injury and death to innocent animals. The people who would do such things are sick. I don't want any part of that and I don't think Amazon needs to play any part in making such materials available. If enough people express opposition, I believe Amazon can be persuaded to drop those listings. I am in the process of returning an order for $500+ of camera equipment and have written to Amazon and told them I will not be making any further purchases from their site until these materials are no longer available.

I hope you will join with me and many others who support this effort by:

Write to Amazon to express your opposition and support of a boycott of Amazon until they drop such products - https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/contact-us/general-questions.html?ie=UTF8&nodeId=508510&type=email&skip=true#csTop

2. I understand your view, but I feel the 1st Amendment issues are more important.
How is this any different than boycotting a store because they're "advancing the war on Christmas" by saying "Happy Holidays"?

We seek to censor the expressions of others at our own peril.

3. The first amendment only relates to gov't censorship.
Asking Amazon, a private business, to make an ethical decision not to profit from animal cruelty has nothing to do with it.

4. Again, censor at your own peril.
There's a bigger issue here. How will you feel when Amazon eliminates pro-choice books because some religious nuts complained?

If you don't like dogfighting, don't buy the books...and realize that actions have consequences.

9. Dogfighting is illegal, and there's a law against interstate transfer of paraphanalia
which are sold in those magazines. Ditto cockfighting, which is FINALLY illegal in all 50 states.

10. ...but there's no law prohibiting the sale or ownership of the magazines...
It's a legal product. If you don't like it, don't buy it.

...but, as we frequently insist when the shoe is on the other foot, don't attempt to censor it.

I have an Amazon Visa card and told them I will not purchase, and will cancel my card unless they change their policy.
