After some thinking about it, I have actually come to the conclusion that the Republican Party actually loves Poverty.
Now, they don't want to think about the IMPOVERISHED, but they consider the condition itself to be a buddy of their's.
Tell me you haven't seen these examples before.
Liberal: I think poverty breeds terrorism. Conservative: How dare you say that!11! Radical Islam breeds terrorism, duh.
How many times have we heard Conservatives use Johnson's "War on Poverty" in a pejorative sense rather than a positive one?
Republicans are celebrating Bush's economic agenda, saying it's working, even though the gap between the rich and the poor is at Pre-Depression levels.
What of the GOP's Socially Conservative agenda, anyone can see that it has no regard for the poor at all.
A person who has to work so they can decide rather to pay the rent or get groceries is going to be less likely to vote, and we all know that. The Republican Party knows this, and revels in this fact.

1. You can't be at the top of the heap unless there is a heap. |
