Need DU Help: Tax Email Attack |

Any sources I can use to debunk?
A MUST READ 2008 INCOME TAX CHART
THE TRUTH ABOUT TAXES
www.taxfoundation.org/publications/show/151.html
Taxes under Clinton 1999 Taxes under Bush 2008
Single making 30K - tax $8,400 Single making 30K - tax $4,500
Single making 50K - tax $14,000 Single making 50K - tax $12,50
Single making 75K - tax $23,250 Single making 75K - tax $18,750 Married making 60K - tax $16,800 Married making 60K- tax $9,000 Married making 75K - tax $21,000 Married making 75K - tax $18,750
Married making 125K - tax $38,750 Married making 125K - tax $31,250 If you want to know just how effective the mainstream media is, it is amazing how many people that fall into the categories above think Bush is screwing them and Bill Clinton was the greatest President ever. If ANY democrat is elected, ALL of them say they will repeal the Bush tax cuts and... a good portion of the people that fall into the categories above can't wait for it to happen. This is like the movie The Sting with Paul Newman----------- you scam somebody out of some money and they don't even know what happened!

Repealing all Bush Tax Cuts. Just the top 1%.
ETA: That's also the raw tax, not including any deductions, adjustments, etc.

2. There was a big tax code "overhaul" in 2001 |
|
It says so right on the referenced document.
The chart, therefore, is misleading -- just like the 2001 code changes.

3. They don't want you to know that Bill had surpluses while Chimpy has deficits. |
|
Your tax "rebate" from Chimpy is only blowing a hole in the national debt.

4. I paid a LOT more taxes in 1999 than I did this year |
|
But, I also EARNED a LOT more in 99 than I did last year, too. Of course, in 1999, we were working 60-70 hours a week, and this past year, its been more like working 35 hours a week, due to this "great economy".
The last time I had checks for 40 hours a week, was over a year ago, when I was on paid sick leave!!

5. First off, to really compare the brackets from 1999 to 2008 is |
|
completely foolish...
First of all, the brackets are al indexed for inflation so if you wanted to actually compare the tax rate of te person from 1999 to the person in 2008, you would have to index their income for inflation...
It's like comparing apples and oranges...
In order to truly compare say, what was the cost of gas then as compared to what it is now, you would have to compare the two in 199 dollars...
These arguments are made by weenies with just a bit of knowledge...
You have to take the comparison all the way to the end before you can make any kind of judgement...
