Please help me proof my oped

Bob Lawry (February 18, 2008) referred to Obama as “a smooth talker with no foreign experience.” This election year many of us are not going to sit by and allow ignorance or dishonesty to go unanswered.

Last year, Obama authored a provision with Nebraska Republican Chuck Hagel relating to nuclear nonproliferation. The year before Obama introduced legislation with the Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Republican Richard Lugar, to reduce American dependence on foreign oil. If Mr. Lowery wants to assert that Obama doesn’t have enough foreign policy experience that is his opinion but when he asserts that he has none, the public needs to know the truth.

He later states that Obama’s “socialist agenda… is downright scary.” What is scary is Mr. Lowery’s willingness to use words that he seems to have little understanding about merely to score political points. I doubt that Mr. Lowery would label public libraries, fire departments, or public schools to be “socialist” simply because they are not generally privately funded or controlled. Or, gasp, the “socialist” military! I tell you what though; as soon as I can refer to any movement away from complete social libertarianism as “fascism” I will sit by while folks like Mr. Lowery use the label “socialist” with equal irresponsibility.
