UVa. announces Thomas Jefferson Foundation Medal recipientsSaturday, Feb 16, 2008 - 04:38 PM
Charlottesville, VA - The University of Virginia has announced the 2008 recipients of the Thomas Jefferson Foundation Medals, the highest external honors given by the Charlottesville school.
The 2008 recipients are Sen. John Warner, Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia and United Nations special envoy Gro Harlem Brundtland.
The awards are jointly sponsored by the school and the Thomas Jefferson Foundation, the nonprofit that owns and operates Monticello. They will be conferred during the school's Founders Day celebrations, held around Thomas Jeffersons birthday on April 13th.
Recipients are expected to attend ceremonies in the Rotunda as well as a dinner at Monticello.
