1. That's certainly worth remembering
John McCain has a pretty tough hill to climb.

2. I was saying to the wife last night
It can't be very encouraging for republicans or for them to have enthusiasm to get out and vote for someone who pretty much has already been declared the nominee and who will more than likely only be able to serve one term.

3. Stick a fork in the "conservative revolution"
Edited on Wed Feb-20-08 11:19 AM by YOY
It's f***ing done.

It didn't work.

It was based on ideas that have never worked.

Those who told you that you were more patriotic because you supported it are liars.

They made millions of dollars a year to tell you those lies.

If you still believe in it, then you seriously need to OPEN YOUR FREAKING EYES.

4. Do you honestly believe that...
...those numbers are going to hold up in November?

Here is the WI Exit Poll for 2004: http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2004/pages/results/states/WI/P/00/epolls.0.html

A plurality of WI (38% R, 35% D, 27%I) voters identified themselves as Republican in 2004. Do you honestly believe that it has suddenly flipped to nearly 3-1 for the Dems?

You're being had. Part of it is independents against Hillary; and part of it is Republicans against Hillary. Come November...the story will be quite different.

5. that could explain some of it, but DOUBLE the turnout???
And tell us exactly what reason do you have to believe the story will be much different in November? McCain isn't exactly Mr Popularity on the right and people are fed up with the GOP in general.

7. No, McCain isn't Mr. Popularity.
Neither is he Hillary or Obama (whose middle name will be bandied about by surrogates far and wide, the closer we get to the election). In the end, the Republicans will stay on the reservation, by and large. The Indies will split according to the perceived prevailing wind. The Dems *probably* take it, but barring a major blunder by one of the parties, it will be close.

9. all those "Indies" who have lost their jobs and their healthcare
will not be voting according to the perceived prevailing wind. The GOP offers NOTHING for them and they know it. All you have to do is watch one GOP speech or debate to realize that all they offer is the status quo and most know that the status quo will not cut it.

10. You are justifying your opinion with your opinion.
But we both know that people don't vote in their own self-interest very often. If they did, Republicans would be extremely scarce in public office.
