2 hailstorms leave huge loss of food crops in Bangladesh

Heavy hailstorm accompanied by rains yesterday left large scale damage to rabi crops in Pabna, Jamalpur, Netrokona, Sherpur, Mymensingh, Chandpur and some other districts. A report from Pabna said rabi crops - wheat, mustard seeds, mashur and vegetables - were damaged in Faridpur, part of Sathia and Atghoria upazilas. Hailstorm continued for about 30 minutes in afternoon and again for an hour beginning at 8:00pm. In Jamalpur, heavy hailstorm left extensive damage to rabi crops in Sharishabari and Madarganj upazila. Parts of Sherpur also experienced hailstorm. Hailstorm also ravaged rabi crops in parts of Mymensingh and adjoining districts. A report from Chandpur said, hailstorm accompanied by rains damaged rabi crops, early boro plants and vegetables.)
