what happens after 01/20/2009 ? |
|
Edited on Wed Feb-20-08 11:37 AM by blues90
Here the entire country of america ,well at least those who have a say or are still alive , are all caught up in this election frenzy and there is no doubt are .
What happens to all those who fell of the ship called america during the 8 years of bush ? Are we just to move on as if nothing happened and erase all the past . All the criminals just walk away and all the profiteers keep their robbed take and the endless stream of freaks calling themselves the MSM just continue on happy go lucky .
Do all the freaks who voted for bush once or twice , clear their conscience saying they were just afraid of a terrorist attack , where the hell are they now ?
How about all the right wing radio freaks such as Rush , do they keep their life and continue on with the hate .
How many more years will the people in New Orleans and the Miss gulf live in FEMA trailers and the soldiers live on the streets .
All the people who live in what's left of Iraq , what about them .
Does Black water continue to grow and we will still be looking at police dressed like the Black op patrol .
How about all the people who lost their jobs and homes and life savings , are they to just pick themselves up by their boot straps and carry on .
I ask these things because most of this has been pushed way back in the distance as if it just does not matter any more , does not matter who was left behind as long as those still standing can climb into their cars and SUV's and bring along their camera phones and join in on all the high profile bullshit election frenzy meet ups and cheer and rave and cast that vote for their media chosen head of the whitehouse .
Nothing else really matters now does it ?

2. Senate investigation into BushInc begins and THIS TIME Pres. Obama COOPERATES |
|
and FACILITATES access to documents that the last Dem president would not.
Just shining a light on the depth of corruption and opening the government long closed to the people will freshen the air on ALL the issues, domestic and foreign.

16. There is no moving ahead in an honest fashion when public knows so little truth |
|
about how they ended up with the foreign policy that will NEED to be dealt with in an open and honest way for ANY CHANCE of reversing the catastrophic reality going on now.

to have one frickin nightmare to contend with. Its going to take a lot longer to put this country back together than the 8 years it took to tear it apart. Frankly, I'm glad its not me stepping into this major mess... and that is why I would certainly love to see the next president hold these thugs responsible for there carnage.
Edited to include:
One big problem that I still have is if November elections will happen as they are supposed to... or will a war or something else happen to circumvent the election, and keep this bunch of loonies in power? Guess we will have to wait and see.

The Republicans (those that are left) and right-wing radio begin their attack on the Obama administration.
The Obama administration begins work on restoring America.
How that plays out will be very interesting.

10. it will only be interesting to those who have a life left . |
|
I don't assume anything nore is this the place to the claim of fame of an Obama admin .
This is not about Obama , this is about the people who Obama or anyone else for that matter have up to this point ignored completely .
Remember one thing , who ever becomes president and the more they promise they will never be allowed one mistake this time around . The media will be just waiting for the one mistake or the promise made that can't be kept before they pounce .

restore Habeas Corpus in the first weeks of the Presidency... This will show to the American people and the rest of the world that America is back.

8. there is a long way to go before there is any new president |
|
And as you said in your first reply , there is the great possibility of something going very wrong well before the elections are over .

9. Change does not happen overnight |
|
And if those "still standing" in their SUVS and with their camera phones were not packing stadiums to attend meetups and cast their votes, change would not be happening. Would you prefer these people to stay home and watch American Idol and not give a shit? We had too much of that. We need to welcome EVERYONE we can get to the political arena especially if they are on our side.
I do not know what you expect to happen. I do not know the reason for your OP. All I can suggest to you is to be patient and to be one of those attending election frenzy meetups and encouraging everyone you know to attend them with you.
Change can only come about from engagement and activism.

12. Well then tell me something . |
|
While all of this horror has been going on for the last 7 years where the hell were all these wonderful helpful people with their camera phones .
I saw some if you go by numbers which pale in comparision to those out there now raving and in a frenzy , some out there during all of this in relatively small numbers trying to bring out the truth or help or protest , some trying to get bush impeached .
But don't tell me now after the fact . Alot of this could have been stopped well before many many more fell into the hell if they did not need a crazed setting to do something .
How much effort does it take to go to a primary , what a half days time , big deal that is .
If you don't know the point of the OP then you can't read .
I have done alot to try to get brain dead people to wake up well before this country of war monger fear filled fools were so willing to bomb the hell out of Iraq let alone vote bush in for a second term .
Now suddenly everyone grew a conscience , sorry it's a bit late for that cop out . Once ignorant always a fool .

15. the high and mighty "where have you been" attitude accomplishes nothing |
|
Edited on Wed Feb-20-08 12:22 PM by LSK
I would rather people drop their arrogance about "waking up a long time ago" as it is a big turnoff and we need as much help and numbers as we can get. It doesnt matter when they woke up as we cannot go back in time, all that matters is that they are here now.
For example: How should we greet new DUers?
1. What took you so long you moron?
2. Welcome to DU
What is the better way to greet new people?

17. No it is far from high and mighty or arrogance |
|
It does matter when people woke up and it will matter again if things go wrong again . All that matters is not that they are here now . To say that is to say it matters that the rescue unit came after half the town drown .
the example of welcoming someone to DU is not even close to the same thing .
I know a few people who lost everything and they could care less about now or a year from now . This is absolutely no help to them , it's too late for them to put their lifes back together .
I will never understand how on earth it could take 7 years for people to wake up , where the hell were they that they missed this unless they weren't affected by the bush destruction and it took a rock concert mentality to get them involved and still all I hear from them is we are winning , we are for change or moving forward or any other catch phrase .
To creat these images is easy , to fix the mass problems and involve those left in the dirt is not so easy and I hear nothing about these people anywhere in speeches by any candidate .
I am including both Obama and Hillary supporters here , I have to side that makes me feel all warm and fuzzy . It's all about points presented to win and politics as usual .
You just don't see it do you ? We were promised the same thing in 2006 and look how well that worked out , things continued to get worse and worse . All that is forgotten now and washed away as if it too does not matter but it does matter because it was a lie and people suffered because of this and they continue to do so .
There is reality and there is what people choose to see .

11. You already know this |
|
But basically, nothing will change. We will still be killing people in Iraq, we'll probably be killing people in Pakistan soon to prop up our puppet dictator, and soon after we fix that "democratic issue," we'll be going to Iran.
Meanwhile back home, the jobs will continued to be offshored while H1B visas will continue to be offered in record numbers despite unemployment rates continuing to be well above the 10% in the real world(not as the gov't calculates).
Oil/Biofuel mess will continue while people press for more nuclear power, Corp pollution and waste will continue as usual, family planning and social safely net will continue to be shredded...
Healthcare won't be sorted out despite the fact that 45% of all diagnoses/treatment offered are wrong- but the Insurance companies will get handouts as they find better ways to deny people's claims while taking their money.
Speaking of handouts, the banks will continue to be bailed out as a prize for their predatory lending, while the foreclosures will continue and will drag the housing market even further down.
Anyone planning on fixing the dollar, btw?
2009 will look much the same as today, I suspect. Especially if the repubs pull a diebold again and we get McCain. Can't happen, you say? It already did in 2000 and 2004.
