O'Reilly: "I don't want to go on a lynching party against Michelle Obama unless there's evidence,
Summary: In a discussion of recent comments made by Michelle Obama,
Bill O'Reilly took a call from a listener who stated that, according to
"a friend who had knowledge of her," Obama " 'is a very angry,' her word was 'militant woman.'

" O'Reilly later stated:
"I don't want to go on a lynching party against Michelle Obama unless
there's evidence, hard facts, that say this is how the woman really feels.
If that's how she really feels -- that America is a bad country or a flawed nation,
whatever -- then that's legit. We'll track it down."

13. let's see if o'really?'s lynching comment gets anywhere near the press
as the Golf Channel commentator's comment referencing Tiger Woods' golfing adversaries.

Hers (and she is a friend of Tiger's) were meant with absolutely no malice or racial implication...no matter. She was put on leave, etc. Crucified by press, Al Sharpton, etc.

Do you really think Fox will do anything to the #1 guy they have? Hell, this is good for business. The more o'really? is attacked, the more he will be watched, the more they will make.

Can't wait for his next 'slip of the tongue' that he can deny ever saying, or claim to be misquoted or taken out of context...regardless of what the tapes will show.

I think if he can be held to account by his advertisers getting nervous about the race discussion, we might be able to make an inroad here.

I recall that when Hillary complained about inappropriate comments, she was roundly abused - even compared to Nixon - on this board. Now that Obama is the recipient, would it be ok for us to get together and complain now?

22. Seems to me this would be a great way to deflect the bitterness between them. Abrams introed
his show the other day by actually pointing out how the media had been harsh on HRC--right after my Obama-supporting husband had said the SAME thing. My head hit the floor. I'm an Obama supporter too, but I've been trying to point out to him how the media has distorted and nitpicked everything she says to the point of ridiculousness. It seems to have worked.

If my husband--who is right now at the "stay home rather than vote for HRC (but is sofftening) stage sees it--it's there.

27. I'm amazed that there is any question about this among Democrats.
The media are not on our side. The media constantly attack Democrats. Phil Donahue said during an interview that his producers told him that there had to be two or three Republicans for every Democrat appearing on a talk show. He said that his producer said it was ok to have a right-wing Republican on without a rebuttal, but any "liberal" guest had to be "balanced" with at least two and preferably three conservatives.

The corporate owners of the news media have their own interests at stake. They promote politicians who support corporate interests.

It's ridiculous, and Democrats just roll over and take it. We have to come together as a party and insist that fairness be restored to the press.

23. Maybe O'Reilly is helping to confirm why Michelle feels America is a flawed nation
The fact that this asshole has a popular radio and TV show while using language that displays a mentality still stuck in the days of Night Riders and lynchings says a lot about the American character. The fact that O'Reilly is reasonably popular tells me the problem is not with him or with isolated cases, but with the American people themselves (or a large segment of them).

26. That statement right there is EXACTLY what Michelle Obama was talking about.
Anyone with the slightest idea of what it's like to be black in America knows exactly what Michelle is talking about.

America as an ideal is a beautiful thing, but in our history the good is so often mixed and weighted down with the bad. With the Obama candidacy (and the Hillary one as well!), America stands ready to deliver on a HUGE promise to a group of people long disenfranchised in this country.

Meanwhile, we still have Bill O'Reilly to put his big, fat mouth right into the middle of what tears America down. Barack Obama should stay as far away from this lunatic as possible.

He expects Americans to be proud when people like him have a platform and an audience to spew his racist and sexist bullshit? Just because he has the right to be an ass, doesn't mean anyone has to be proud of it, including the spouse of a presidential candidate.

it was a very poor choice of words on his part and a mistake. Just like Michelle's choice of words were a mistake. Bill isn't a racist and he said he believed Barack's explanation of what Michelle meant to say.

He should apologize for his choice of words, just like Michelle should(which I believe she already has).

38. How many times does O'Reilly have to say racist things before he's called racist?
This certainly isn't the first time he has said something racist and I doubt it will be the last. He refers to Mexicans as "wetbacks", he claims children in inner city public schools run around screaming "mother f*cker in the hallways, and he said this when eating at Sylvia's:

I "couldn't get over the fact that there was no difference between Sylvia's restaurant and any other restaurant in New York City. I mean, it was exactly the same, even though it's run by blacks, primarily black patronship. It was the same," O'Reilly said on September 19 edition of his nationally syndicated radio program.

Later during his conversation with NPR correspondent and Fox News contributor Juan Williams, O'Reilly noted "There wasn't one person in Sylvia's who was screaming, 'M-Fer, I want more iced tea.' You know, I mean, everybody was—it was like going into an Italian restaurant in an all-white suburb in the sense of people were sitting there, and they were ordering and having fun. And there wasn't any kind of craziness at all."

A few other comments he's made in the past:

"Will African-Americans break away from the pack thinking and reject immorality--because that's the reason the family's breaking apart--alcohol, drugs, infidelity. You have to reject that, and it doesn't seem--and I'm broadly speaking here, but a lot of African-Americans won't reject it" (2/25/99).

* "I've been to Africa three times. All right? You can't bring Western reasoning into the culture. The same way you can't bring it into fundamental Islam" (5/6/02).

*During an interview for Stuff magazine (11/02), O'Reilly opined that "the most unattractive women in the world are probably in the Muslim countries." O'Reilly later insisted (New York Daily News, 10/10/02), "There was no malice intended. It was just in jest."

* During a segment (2/9/00) about black athletes suing over the minimum academic standards for college admission, O'Reilly commented: "Look, you know as well as I do most of these kids come out and they can't speak English."

64. I am sooo glad that O'Reilly is going to spare Michelle from lynching. What a graaacious man!
Need I post a sarcasm emoticon?

No, I don't think I do. You can hear my long Texas drawl in my post, right?

I will use this one instead.

65. Actually, the posse has been put on alert status.
I understand you meant it sarcastically, but the bastard left the option open.

68. Lynching
From Wiki - "Lynching, an enumerated felony in some states in the U.S.A., is defined by some codes of law as 'Any act of violence inflicted by a mob upon the body of another person which results in the death of the person'". And, "Most lynchings were inspired by unsolved crime, racism, and innuendo. 3,500 of its victims were African Americans."

So this is what Billy thinks Mrs. Obama deserves if he gets "hard facts" that she "feels" the United States is a "flawed nation".

Yeah, I'd say he's crossed a little line here.

I hate emailing FOX, but off I go.
