How to handle right wing e-mails:
Look out.
I just had another one of them flashes.

I have a few (thankfully) 'friends' who send me right wing attacks on Democrats. They know I'm a Democrat.
They know that won't change.

Most of them are really stupid, but then they come from stupid people, so no big surprise.
And I have to decide whether to just delete them or, if I've got some 'tude going, rip into them with some equally nasty stuff about repugs.
Of which there is no dearth of material.

Today it hit me.
I'll just forward one's e-mails to the others with no comment.
Then they can be all smug and complacent, thinking everyone in the whole wide world is buying that crap,
UNTIL WE KICK THEIR ASSES IN NOVEMBER.

Go ye and do likewise.
:-)

2. Hi Trof
I get a fair amount of the trash and I have been deleting them. My brothers in law are borderline neanderthals and I avoid any political chit chat with them for my wife's sake (and other then their politics, they aren't bad humanoids.) I get their forwarding work and hit the delete.

My wife and I are the only two veterans on her side of the family (besides her wonderful and dearly departed WWII hero father.) And we are the only two democrats on her side of the family besides her ass kicking 75 year old democrat for life Mother. Very telling I believe. My wonderful father in law told me several years ago that he wouldn't waste his spit on a republican.

5. Here's what pisses me off:
I have friends and family who are repugs.
They know I'm a Democrat and disagree with them on just about everything remotely political.
I never send them any political e-mails.
They send them to me.

At some point I began to feel that just deleting them was tacit acquiescence. "He didn't answer so I guess he agrees."
Or "Well, I guess I got him told. He doesn't have anything to say about that."

It's getting too damn tiresome to keep quoting them chapter and verse about "No, Obama ISN'T Muslim." etc., etc.

So I'll just keep forwarding one to the other and let them have their own little circle jerk.
It makes me feel better and helps keep my BP down.
:-)

3. Send it back to them with a note.
"Please take me off the mailing list for this crap."

:)

4. My technique is different since I want to stop them completely
I send out a link to Snopes with enough of a quote to destroy the message along with a very nasty note not to clutter my inbox with right wing horseshit again because I will put the sender on block. I hit "reply to all."

I have rarely had a second right wing email. I have used block when I've gotten a second one, maybe four times. If somebody needs to get in touch with me, they can use the phone or a postage stamp.

6. Doesn't "reply all" add a bunch of odiots to your
address book? also mail sent "bcc" doesn't foward. The thugs in my family have learned.

8. No, I have to add people to the address book
because my primary email doesn't do it automatically.

Most of the people who reply do it only once and with a thank you.

The rest are obnoxious strangers who get blocked right away.

7. same here
I 'reply to all' and send them links to debunk the BS, which are pretty easy to do.

Eventually, they take me off their lists - I doubt they stop sending out garbage, but one can hope. Only once have I had someone else on the list respond negatively, and a couple of times I've gotten "thanks!" responses.

9. Fun With "Replace"
I used to have an asshat who would spam me with the most vile of the chain e-mails. I'd take 'em...make a couple of modifications and stand back for some laughs. Be sure to change anything "Reagan" to Clinton...such as "Clinton ended the cold war" or "this country needs values and leadership like Clinton"...but first, change Clinton to georgewboosh...such as "that lying booooosh". I think you get the idea. Turn it completely inside out and then send it the person...or, if you're up for stirring a hornest's nest...hit "send all". Seems like I don't get much email from him anymore...

are not smart enough to clean up e-mails and Bcc forwards, I sometimes will seek out the originator of the bullshit, and Bcc a reply to that person only,I'll usually leave all the forwarded addresses intact...Let em try and figure out who I am.

11. If you are a left-wing democrat, you will be sent romantic dates. No kidding
For 15 years, I had no love life. Around the year 2000, I experienced what author David Lawson describes is happening to hundreds of whistle-blowers and social activists AND at least a dozen men a day began to flirt with me. I had no plastic surgery to account for this surge of attention. Did anyone else experience this?
By the way, Trof I think it´s a nice plan to forward the most stupid of the conservative emails. Great idea.
