Serious question ....... if the lobbyist indeed had sex with McCain in exchange for legislation ....
.... would that not be a quid pro quo ...... and would not that quid pro quo make him a john? And make her a .... woman who has sex for money?

No, I'm not a prude. I believe that sex work is as honorable as any other work and don't fault women who choose to do so and don't see them as exploited. If anything, I see them as exploiters fully in control. That last statement is said with admiration, not disdain. Further, there are exceptions to almost any statement one can make ..... so can we just confine any discussion in this thread to the narrow topic at hand?

2. As far as I am concerned he can buy all the sex he wants as long as he's paying for it with his own
money. He has no right to trade political favors or legislation for sex. That is grossly unethical.

3. McCain has immunity from prosecution
He is a Republican, and therefore not liable to prosecution
under corruption laws until the "Justice" department is run
by someone who cares about justice.

8. Do you think it was quid pro quo?
It looks like strictly gravy to me.

10. The story continues to dribble out .....
There are elements of both a quid pro quo and 'gravy' (as you call it).

I think there was a quid pro quo. But so far, there's not enough known to say that for certain.
