Well, the crazy conservatives have something to rally around now
They can now use this story to rally around McCain because the 'liberal' media is attacking him. Look for Rush and Hannity to use this as an 'out' to start towing the party line today by testing that angle on their listeners today to see if they'll buy into it.

1. I'm not so sure Fuzz. I think the opposite could happen.
I think the Fundies in the Republican Party may use this as a way to rip McCain apart. It will be interesting to see how it plays out within the party; we can all just sit back and watch.

11. I was watching Morning Joe earlier today
and the concensus was that if the charges stick you'll see the evangelicals totally toss McCain overboard with a millstone tied to his feet. They already don't like him and this would give them the cover to say "thanks, but no thanks".

10. It took him a while to say it. I thought for a while he was sounding
like he was actually thinking through an issue of how it could affect McCain but then went with the RW topic that will keep his callers dialing up.

14. Yeah, Bill, they sure rallied around you
If it weren't for the fact that you have friends in low places and that you know where a lot of bodies are buried, you'd be probating wills in Podunk by now, just another sad piece of party history.

Rank and file right wingers will react quite differently from party bosses and media hacks on this one. The religious nuts can forgive just about anything but the sin of sex. They already didn't like McInsane. They'll have just another reason not to trust him; if he violated his marriage vows with "that" woman, he's untrustworthy in all other matters, as well.

Oh, a few blowhards will buy the line, the ones who are all mouth and no brain, but those solid churchgoing folks are likely to rebel at election time.

7. Like con-artist con-servatives have much leverage with anyone else now. . .
This is just the latest in a long line of cheaters, schemers and fearmongerers, which seems exclusively part of the "family values" GOP.

The only time I've ever seen a con-servative become indignant about the sanctity of "privacy" is when one of their own is caught with the pants down. . .and people pay attention to how much personal corruption exists in the party of "values."

15. Republicans Are Used To Double Standards
If it were one of the democratic candidates the republicans would be coming at them from all sides feigning shock and dismay. If either Obama or Clinton had left a disabled spouse the moral outrage would be off the scale. I was watching Olbermann last night and Chuck Todd was already down playing it saying it was almost ten years ago, blah, blah and blah. Since it was a republican we will be told to move on, get over it and stop whining. McCain is a media darling. The MSM will back off just like they did with Bush.

17. Still no sign of this on RW radio
Edited on Thu Feb-21-08 09:14 PM by Canuckistanian
Rush seemed to be silent on the issue. At least when I was listening.

18. He's testing the waters
Trying to see if his listeners will buy into it, more importantly if McCain will move more to the right to get the Rush people to move his way.
