ANSWER ME THIS....
Oil has hit and peeped over the $100/barrel mark

gas at the pumps in my area have been seen at $3.21/gallon

saw a "DISCOUNT HEATING FUEL" sign the other day advertising at $2.99/gallon

week or so ago there was alot of brouhaha about the $4 billion qtr profit posted by on oil company

soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

where's the clamor to investigate?
where are the news stories about people without heat because they can't afford it?
where are the 20 second filler videos showing people at gas pumps?

Directly and Indirectly the price of oil is one of the factors killing our economy...

so where are the stories? where are the investigations?

1. The corporate media does not want to report on this issue right now.
Their buds at the oil companies say this is all good, and the media is busy telling us who the next President is going to be, so there's really no time for trivial things like corporate corruption, a failing economy, or poor people who can't heat their homes.

You should be ashamed of yourself for even asking such a question!

Why do you hate America?

:sarcasm:

2. Where are the stories, you ask?
Just watch the commercials on tv. I've seen 2 lately, of these corrupt oil companies boasting how their oil keeps "people warm", "people driving to their jobs", etc., etc. It makes me want to puke.

3. People don't seem concerned...no gas lines...and they are just charging it...

trying to live. The Bush years have beaten folks down. Their "outrage meter" is broken ...because there's so much to deal with. You gotta get to work...then you charge the high gas price. You start to bring peanut butter & jelly sandwiches to work rather than grab a fast food. That's how folks cope.

Waiting for the Corporate Whore Media to report that Bush Economy is in implosion and folks are suffering just wouldn't be good...it might spread "panic."

What about that Beef Recall? The one that apparently was extended back to four years for that company. I wondered which School Lunch Program had four year old beef sitting around they hadn't used. But, did Waxman's Committee do a hearing on America's children being fed meat from sick, mistreated cows? No...he's more worried about Roger Clemons evidence that he was getting B-12 shots in his butt and not steroids.

BushWorld......Where folks are mindless robots just doing their best to get along and get by. Asking questions only makes you stand out in the crowd of sheeple. And what good would it do anyway. Might get you shot or tasered or put on a "warning list" sent to your employer.

4. Imho, I think this is a case of the slow boiling frog
We've been absorbing the high prices for so long, that the cumulative effect of all of this is just now starting to pinch. No news stories because the fullest possible negative effect hadn't really sunk in for vast numbers of people. We know it on the lowest levels but those people who still believe they are middle class, aren't yet squeezed. It's not news imho, until it hits THEIR pocketbooks and frankly, they aren't there yet obviously.

Poverty issues never get MSM attention. And high gas prices are just another poverty story... for now.

9. I'm going to make up a bunch of those
and start plastering them on the pumps...

Maybe a few that also say "McCain = MUCH More of the Same"

and some:

"Think this is high now? Wait until McCain bombs Iran"

7. brouhaha about the $4 billion qtr profit posted by on oil company
Boy that oil company is sure sucking hind tit. Exxon had their largest (in fact the largest of any corporation) quarterly Net Profit in history. Over Ten billion Dollars which breaks down to over one hundred million dollars a day Well over in fact and they have been ruunning such Net Profits for over four years straight..Over one hundred million dollars a day every single day seven days a week, week after week, month after month, year after year. And gas prices have kept on rising..America is most definitely the land of "morans"
