Video here
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/23271556

~" we will have to wait from several different sources...how will conservative activists (huh?) react to this by that I mean conservative talk radio..."

Meredith Viera and he go on to talk about how it this could be a galvanizing moment for McCain with conservatives as they will see him as under attack by the "main stream media"

Seriously. Watch the video. :eyes:

2. Fix yourself a drink and watch the GOP self-destruct.
This moment in politics is extremely gratifying.

5. The Keating Five is just sitting there waiting
so when McCain says the bit about never having betrayed the public trust THAT should be the first thing everyone brings up

12. My jaw hit the floor when I heard that. The scary part is--they really do think we are that stupid
as to have forgotten about it.

Not if I can help it.

16. Not to mention that prior to the affair with Cindy
he has admitted to many other affairs (cheating on his then wife).

The guy is a serial philanderer. Why women who have these affairs with married men think that it will stop "once he met ME" is just beyond me. I suspect that since marrying Cindy, there have been more than one incident of him being "cozy" with someone.

This was an issue with Rudy, it will be an issue with McCain.

And the repukes, with their ceaseless pursuit of Bill Clinton, made this a litmus test for high political office.

Oh, sure, high profile repukes will rally around him right now... but the fundy base of the party will really think twice about voting for him in November (even as they are "disgusted" with the NYT for publishing this).

4. I thought last night that this is the reason this came out now. It helps McCain if the right
defends him. They will make it look like the Dems playing dirty politics and that will get more of the right behind McCain.

6. This will help McCain with Conservative Talk Show Guys
They hate the New York Times and, if they are uncomfortable with McCain, they are very comfortable laying into the Times.

14. I should have made it more clear - helps him with the Conesrvative
Talk Show Hosts - if McCain's rise shows something is that Conservative Talk Show Hosts don't wield the same power they once did.

17. Russert is just the billboard to get the DC groupthink package out to the public
We know from the Valerie Plame thing that the White House openly talked about who to leak things through and they knew that there would be no scrutiny of the information or how they were packaging it. This appears to be more of the same.

10. Yup yup. This will help shore up the base for McCain.
Unless someone has video of McCain and friend engaged in the act of coitus, the base will always side with the Republican against the evil librul media.

7. What about the people
These fuckers who own the airwaves think it is their right and duty to tell us who can and who can't run for office. They think it is OK to tell us that when a President gets a blow job from an intern it is a crime against the Constitution but when a Senator is screwing a lobbyist and votes in her favor that all is well with in the democracy.

18. Jon Stewart on Larry King last nght when this broke
Stewart said that he thought this was petty and that it was a shame that the campaign had to deal with this instead of issues and that McCain's family had to deal with it

King asked him if he thought that because it was the NYT that it would add weight to these allegations and Stewart was dumbfounded for a second.

He then went on to point out the reporting that Judy Miller did before the war and how the NYT does not have a lot to rest their laurels on.

19. It was petty argument didn't stop the GOP from frying Clinton for a BJ
I feel it is petty as well, but they need to hold their own people to the same fucking standards.

I'm just tired of the hypocrisy of these people.

11. Exactly, he's got some questions to answer..
he's been spewing all this bullshit about not sucking up to lobbyists. Now it turns out he probably was, literally. This will taint him in the public eye, I can't see how it won't.

20. Yip, they hate McNASTY. Tinfoil would be: Their way of ditching him in favor of
Jeb Crow Shrub? Although LIMBOsevic also detested Poppy BUSH as being Country Club Rethug. Plus, the same crew-----INGRAHAM, LIMBOsevic, COULTERgeist------brought Shrub to heel on immigration and other things.

LIMBOsevic is perpetrating the myth that Tweety et al. is a Lib who DOESN'T want McNASTY to win:

Given LIMBOsevic's detestation of McNASTY, he's not defending him, but turning it into a media conspiracy against McNASTY and all other Rethugs.

He said wingnuts should not be surprised at the NYT's "attack" on McNASTY, that NONE of the media yakkers, specifically Tweety, want McNASTY to win. LIMBOsevic always refers to Tweety as a Lib and Dem spokesman. That must account for the 2.5 percentage points of his being "wrong."

He frequently cites Tweety's past (very PAST) history of having worked for O'NEILL and CARTER, ignoring Tweety's years of drooling over Shrub and McNASTY and GHOULiani and Old Man THOMPSON.

McNASTY is what his fellow senators call him:

.... He torpedoed claims that his father has a volcanic temper, a reputation that's earned the former Vietnam POW the nickname "McNasty" among Washington politicos. "It cracks me up when I hear about this crazy temper because I've lived with him for almost 22 years and I've never seen it," Jack said, although he admitted, "If I screwed up, I'd know it."

Asked about his father reportedly telling another senator "(bleep) you" in a debate over an immigration bill, Jack said, "He probably deserved it . . . (My dad) isn't a bland politician. He's candid." Jack also shot down assertions that John, 71, is too old to be commander-in-chief, noting they hiked 30 miles together across the Grand Canyon last summer.

21. They are all rallying behind him now... as perdicted...
Rush is the 1st to jump on the defense bandwagon now that the NYT is in involved.

He was very against him, not he has the excuse to jump on board, which he is doing right now.
