Poll question: So does the NY Times have more to go on with this McCain story?
are they waiting for McCain to hang himself and then reveal more? I hope so, because I think if they don't this won't be more than a two or three day story.

Is there more to this?

1. The NYT was just giving McCain an opportunity to come clean.
This specific story may turn out to be nothing, but McCain's interest in and susceptibility to the charms of the ladies has been revealed. There will be more where this came from. Ms. McCain is a cold fish. She is not a good match for McCain. She is the dragon lady of this election.

3. I keeping thinking back on Flynt's comment about having dirt on a Pres candidate
... something along the lines of the candidate having (as in the present tense) an affair with an aide.
I'm wondering if this might be the same story and if something else is beyond it (in other words, it's
not all eight years old).

4. There arent enough specifics in the current aticle, so they better have more

Otherwise this will hurt the NYT more than McCain.

I cant see them being that stupid, so they must have some real specifics still to come out.

5. I think the journalists involved (GOOD ones) haven't shown their full hand yet.
Here's my take:

The importance of this bombshell is not that McCain was banging another woman; it's about a man whose actions contradict his ideals - a man who is not above the corruption.

The sex aspect was used as the grabber to get everyone talking about the story (even if to berate it), subsequent articles can focus on the real meat of it; McCain's inappropriate ties to telecom cos. while he's been preaching against lobbyists.

At least I hope this is where they're going with it.

6. They must have because this is an 8 year old
story, not exactly breaking news.

7. This story has been around since December
There is no reason for the Times to wait until now if this was all there is. They would have printed before New Hampshire. The only reason to print the story now is there is more to it. To me this reads like a tease - see how McCain reacts - then hit them with the real goods. Maybe I have watched "All the President's Men" too many times, but that's what I think.

8. Flying to Scotland for golf VS. Flying to Arizona for golf!
Kurtz Carried McCain's Link to Lobbyist Rumor Last December

They have been working on this long enough to have more.

Flying to Scotland for golf VS. Flying to Arizona for golf! = Abramoff VS. Iseman ??
