Communism doesn't work for the same reason that Capitalism doesn't work:
Because they both involve humans. If we want to change how we live, then we must change who we are.

"It really is of importance, what men do, but also what manner of men are that do it. Among the works of man... the first importance surely is the man himself." - John Stuart Mill, On Liberty

3. Capitalism doesn't solve problems, it capitalizes on them.
Once you solve a problem under capitalism, there's no more problem to be capitalized on. The well dries up. So you need these problems to persist.

You can't go curing cancer, you'd be "curing" yourself of a multi-billion dollar a year industry.

Man is a walking dichotomy between survival and idealism. We've tried each extreme, now we need a hybrid of both.

8. Don't blame me, I voted for Kodos!

But, in all seriousness, you hit the nail on the head, Smith. I'll go a step further. The primate evolutionary line is a dead end. Ultimately because we are unable to rise beyond our primate nature. Hell, we can't even ADMIT we ARE primates, most of us!

The Age of Enlgihtenment, without speaking directly of it (they lacked the scientific understanding) was about that. Unfortunately, advertising, psychology, and public relations teaches quite conclusively that we are essentially a bunch of dumb monkeys, easily fooled and easily lead.

They taught our Rulers that to treat us with enlightenment values made no sense, since the lofty ideals of the Enlightenment had been proven not wrong, it would be the way to go iof we monkeys could do it, but proven that we monkeys are incapable of achieving them because we are infantile masses of emotions and easily reprogrammed subconsciously using the tools of the aformentioned sciences in the previous paragraph.

So...well said!

9. Working on ourselves would mean wanting to be free
we need diversions and rules:

relgion
consumerism
stimulants from media to chemicals
political systems

anything but having to look inside, see the void and fill it ourselves, we really fear freedom.

and...we are not a sustainable species, who in the process of going down the drain is taking quite few living things with it.

11. what is this "Communism" of which you speak?
if you mean communism, that hasn't been tried yet. Nor has socialism, really.

Capitalism doesn't work because it elevates wealth above all else.
