Which Agencies - In Your Opinion" - Has The Bush Regime Corrupted Most Throughly?
Obviously they have destroyed the Department of Justice, the same could be said for the Department of State. Treasure comes to mind when the word dysfunctional is used. USDA just hands out money, DOE is owned by Big Coal. If you know the name Doan then you know GSA went down the tubes a long time ago. Defense is broke, I am told.

How do you see the state of the Agencies, do you work for one of them? If so how is it?

1. Don't forget the IRS being instructed to lay off wealthy tax cheats
and go after the middle class and working class.

If I had to guess I'd say the IRS and the Department of State, for the same reason. Republicans
don't believe we should be collecting taxes and they don't believe we should be using diplomacy. It's hard to effectively run a Department you'd rather destroy.

2. DOL
http://www.commondreams.org/archive/2008/02/21/7200/

But Chao’s tenure as Secretary of Labor is stained with dismantling critical mine safety protections, displaying open hostility toward workers and their unions, and collaborating with corporate interests, most notably through her husband, Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell. Her embarrassing legacy shows a complete lack of accountability at the Department of Labor.

That’s not all. Some of the most disturbing examples of where Elaine Chao’s priorities lie include:

•Hiring a former colleague from the Heritage Foundation, D. Mark Wilson, who actually wrote a report titled “How to close down the Department of Labor.”

•Cutting over 100 inspectors at the Mine Safety and Health Administration and, as a result, hundreds of mines weren’t inspected and tragedies such as Sago and Crandall Canyon might have been prevented.

•Failing to issue a rule requiring employers pay for their workers’ safety gear — contributing to 400,000 workers injured and 50 dead.

•Having an auditorium at the University of Louisville named in her honor, compliments of her husband’s $14.2 million earmark, at taxpayers’ expense. Elaine never attended the university, although it is her husband’s alma mater.

But then that's exactly what you would expect with a National Guard deserter pretending to be Commander in Chief, and that clown backed up by a oil & munitions profiteering VP Cheney with FIVE (5) freaking military deferments.

Pathetic.

Why do republicons Hate our soldiers and veterans? Why do they inflict these WMD-lying, chickenhawk pretenders on our once-proud military as so-called "leaders"?

Our sons and daughters in uniform deserve much, much better...

America deserves better.

7. With entire agenices being 100% gutted, it's bound to be a tie.
The EPA is now pressuring states to not enforce US EPA regulations concerning mercury emissions from power plants.

Department of Interior signed contracts for selling lumber from national forests; they are pushing to drill in ANWR; they fire people who disagree with their "rape the earth" policies; they work hard to get around the Endangered Species Act to allow land development.

DoJ is a joke.

We're shooting $60 million dollar rockets at dead satellites to flex our muscles at China; Iraq; Iran; the Middle East -- our Dept of Defense is compromised.

Rumsfeld horribly damaged our international reputation. Rice looks like a saint in comparison.

10. DOJ, FEMA, and of course
And the whole of DHS is a mess.
It was created over the initial objections of B*shCo.. constructed of pieces of several, formerly functioning agencies - like US Customs, starved in some parts (tariff collection) and given steroids in other parts (ICE & Border Patrol).
The neglected parts of former agencies are treated like the proverbial red-headed stepchild while the enforcement components have been either militarized or privatized...

It will take decades to bring these agencies back to their former levels of competence...

After watching the recalled meat hearings this morning on C-Spin, and the horrific mess going on in that department, we've been discussing this administration's traumatic impact on mankind, animal kind, everything on this plant. I feel like my world has ended with these maniacs in charge. I cry myself to sleep every night thinking of all humanity that has been destroyed by this repuke, neocon nightmare thrust upon us. I'm glad my time here will not be much longer, but am sorry for my grandchildren that their world is so filled with hate and inhumanity.

18. I worked as, first, a Contract Specialist, then Contracting Officer, then Program Analyst
I was trained as an economist and then worked in Federal Contracting for a couple of decades before I got so disgusted with it I volunteered my way into the job of Program Analyst, where I seethed for a couple of years until I quit. You hit the nail on the head. Corrupton begins where the money is.

22. I understand. I worked for a DOE M&O contractor for 5 years.
Edited on Fri Feb-22-08 10:51 AM by TahitiNut
The fundamental "philosophical" corruption is in the privatization of on-going government functions: operations. I can accommodate (specialty) project out-sourcing (privatization) ... or even program out-sourcing where there is a realistically foreseeable discontinuation (i.e. mission accomplished) of the activity. But the mythology of inherent efficiency (cost-effectiveness) or superior expertise in the private sector is a gross perversion of the management of federal operations. In terms of comprehensiveness, the corruption in the DOE is most severe, with 90% of DOE's baseline operations out-sourced. When, within that out-sourced context, the trajectory of program management is considered, the corruption is compounded - spreading taxpayer dollars like manure with a pitchfork. The waste, fraud, and abuse is endemic to the very core of the process. Appalling.

24. Tell me about it - I worked for EG&G for 4 years before going Fed.
I spent 4 years as a 'pet-human' myself. For those not familiar with the title, it is a term for a person who is a near slave. It works like this, you get yourself an education and expertise in some subject or another. Then you get hired by a contractor who runs a Federal facility at which there is an oversight office staffed by career Feds. Your job there becomes satisfying every non-sexual desire of your Government host. He tells you to sit, you sit. He tells you to beg, you beg. He tells you to go look stuff up, write papers with his name in and on them, make it glossy and make a zillion copies of it, well, you do that too. You do it 'cause you are a pet-human, and that is what pet-humans do.

So I did that for 4 years and then I saw a shot to go to the other side, which I did. Strange as it might seem though, even after over two decades in the Government did I ever attain a position where they gave me a pet-human. I could have had a few I suppose, all I would have had to do was ask. I am told that now days the pet-humans outnumber the official people 5:1. Isn't that something?
