Bill O'Reilly Apologizes For Michelle Obama "Lynching" Remark

Huffington Post | February 22, 2008 09:11 AM

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/02/22/bill-oreilly-apologizes-_n_87949.html

First, there was the offensive remark. Then, the producer's defense of the comment, followed by the requisite Olbermann weigh-in. And, finally, the apology: on his show last night, Bill O'Reilly apologized for saying, "I don't want to go on a lynching party against Michelle Obama unless there's evidence." O'Reilly's exact words:

"While talking to a radio caller, I said there should be no lynching in the case, that comment off Clarence Thomas saying he was the victim of a high tech lynching (he said that on 60 Minutes, you may remember). I'm sorry if my statement offended anybody. That, of course, was not the intention. Context is everything."

1. Ah, yes. The classic non-apology apology.

3. Take some of your own advice, fucktard
"Context is everything."

Bill O'reilly has made his career taking things out of context.

4. He can't say "I was wrong" -- at all.
Jeeze ... I understand holding one's ground on issues, but this was no issue. It was a completely insensitive remark, context not withstanding.

I hope O'Reilly cleans up his act, but I'm not going to hold my breath. The guy is a potty-mouthed egomaniac whose audience feeds on hostility.

5. keep his ass on TV...the more he spews, the more obvious his 'angle'...
"even some of the lemmings turn around"...he is only preaching to his choir...if Fox was canny, they would 'suspend' him for 2 or 4 weeks, get his followers all riled up, and bring him back bigger than ever...

we are the only people incensed by his behavior...and we ARE NOT his audience

"Sorry that you were offended..."

No real apology at all.

Lather, rinse, repeat...
