Blech. Any chance for SMU trustees to mutiny?

DALLAS (AP) — Southern Methodist University's selection as the site of George W. Bush's presidential library is nearly official, after more than a year as the lone finalist, a spokesman said Thursday.

SMU trustees vote Friday on the final agreement with the Bush Foundation, and the official announcement is expected later that day, said Taylor Griffin, a spokesman for the library site selection committee.

The 11,000-student, Methodist-affiliated university has been the only candidate for 14 months. It is first lady Laura Bush's alma mater and both Bushes are Methodist.

The library, a museum and a public policy institute are planned. Some faculty members fought the project because of concerns the policy institute would further the Bush administration's views to the detriment of the school.

10. I can't understand why students there didn't raise hell and
protest the thing... I would have expected sit-ins, speeches, marches... I understand that Methodist ministers organized an opposition, but it seems like the students did not put up much of a fight. Is that correct? If so, could it be the Mendacious Monkey is/was popular there,, even a source of pride?

Any insight?
