Poll question: Pure Speculation: You're A Republican |
|
And John McCain's campaign melts down in the glare of a series of substantiated corruption charges.
So who do you want for your nominee -- Remember: YOU'RE A REPUBLICAN and answer accordingly

That's what prompted the poll... |

There are no good options for the Republican Party. I think Arnold might be their best hope in terms of public approval and likeability -- but as I recall, he's not constitutionally allowed to be President. What's left?

Conservative Republicans would love a Brownback candidacy, but the still-sane wing of the Party would be appalled.
I'm just saying that there's more than one constituency in the party.

according the Survey USA. That's how she got on the list -- I have no idea if she would be interested. And the conservatives wouldn't like her.

He should have been on the list. I think he might be the guy they could go to if they wanted a chance.
But the movement conservatives don't like him for the whole "criticizing the war" thing.

those Independents would love him. I just hope the Rethugs try to stick with McCain. I believe there is more stuff to come out about him. He is perhaps the easiest Rethug to take on.

I think of FDR, and think "thank God he was able to serve more than two terms". I think of Clinton turning over the office in 2000 to Bush, and think "damn 22nd Amendment!" Then I think of Reagan and Bush and think "thank God for the 22nd Amendment!"

He would have a chance -- but right now he has no organization. But neither do any of the others, really.
Condi? Who would actually want her? The KKK and Sexist wings of the Republican Party would never vote for her (that along covers a lot of ground).

|
If I were a Republican, I'd be a moderate/liberal Republican like the ones in the community that I grew up in.
If we lived in a universe that hadn't been totally derailed by the nutjobs, Hillary Clinton might also be such a moderate Republican. We'd both believe that government should provide strong social programs such as Social Security, as well as good infrastructure, because that's good for individuals *and* business. We'd be Eisenhower Republicans.
