McCain, The Teflon Senator ? |
|
Once again, he seems to have escaped the judgement of the media and the voters. In the 1980's, he escaped the S&L scandal of which he was enmeshed up to his eyeballs. But, he vowed he would change his ways and, just to prove it, he developed a strategy for campaign finance reform. For the last 15 years, that has been his calling card.
However, with yesterday's story in the NY Times, we find that Senator McCain did not swear off the special interests. He has been in bed with them...literally. He surrounds himself with lobbyists and, as the article pointed out, he worked to get special favors for some of them. He talks the talk but he doesn't walk the walk.
But, once again, he seems to have escaped the deserved judgement by making the story about the NY Times rather than about his own transgressions. And it seems to have worked with his simple-minded supporters. Sucking up to the media all those years seems to show some rewards for the heroic but, teflon, Senator.

3. It is not so much that shit did not stick to McCain as the shit was quickly shoveled |
|
What they did was quickly wipe the shit off of McCain and shovel it over on top of the New York Times. Of course they keep the way paved for that transfer at all times. You see The New York Times is always the villian, they just keep the level of hatred for it at a seething level all the time just for events like this. So its not problem to transfer the hatred and its nothing special about McCain. If one of their other Senators was the one running it would be exactly the same story.
