Nader to Appear on Meet the Press to Discuss Possible White House Bid
The consumer advocate will appear on NBC's "Meet the Press" on Sunday. Nader launched his 2004 presidential run on the show.

A spokesman for Nader did not immediately return a call seeking comment.

Kevin Zeese, who was Nader's spokesman during the 2004 presidential race, but is no longer working for him, said Friday that Nader has been actively talking to "lots of people on all sorts of levels" about the possibility of making another run.

Zeese said he could only guess what Nader might do, but added: "Obviously, I don't think ("Meet the Press" host) Tim Russert would have him on for no reason."

19. Yeah, there is a way to stop him - get the other candidates
to discuss the issues Ralph Nader keeps trying to bring to public awareness - corporate ownership of the candidates, corruption of the parties, the influence of money in politics, the influence of corporate lobbyists and the environment.

29. There was; we could have run a candidate who didn't provoke this sort of response.
John Edwards was one and I'm sure we can think of
others. But our current competition is between
Corporate Candidate B and Corporate Candidate H.

So now it's too late and the die is cast.

4. Good.
Some prime time discussion about how much money is involved in the run to the presidency is in order.

I don't think that he should run this time, but he certainly needs to be heard. We can't expect real change in the way business is done in Washington when so much money is involved.

8. He does it EVERY year. It's just that in the "on" year, the media will talk to him.

He's topical, so he's on the news right now. But if you follow Democracy Now! or other independent sources for info, he's doing talks and debates about this all the time.

11. It's time that the Dems sit down with him and make a deal
Nader espouses ideals that are expressed here at DU every blessed day. I urged the Gore campaign to take him seriously and make a doggone deal. Not that they would listen to a small fry like me. I voted for Gore. But Nader has the right to run and we ignore him at our own peril.

People here who freak out over him probably couldn't name on 5 fingers what policies of his they disagree with. I never voted for him and I caucused for Obama. And I know our candidates will disappoint us and we'll be railing against their policies when one of them is elected.

Mark my words - we'll be demanding that our newly elected president embrace policies that Nader is fighting for.

And he knows it. He's a self-serving ass.

16. He's never been self serving in his life
In all my years, and I'm 61, he has never done anything but try to protect the health, life and safety of people. If our Party is too stupid to sit down and make a deal for something like universal health care then we have more problems than Nader. We need to push our Party to embrace policies that we here at DU espouse every day and stop hammering a guy who holds our values.

I'm a Democrat and will support anyone's right to run for office. It's only a right protected by our Constitution. Gee, what a concept.

6. I'm not worried.
The only thing Nader/Bloomberg might be able to do is hold our nominee under 50. Against McCain, I think it highly unlikely that they could throw the election.

Nader needs to be exposed for what he is - A republican dirty trick.

Peaching change in Washington and taking money from republican sources is just a lie

14. He's been shouting it everywhere he can.

Remember when Gore was asked why he didn't talk about the environment as much back when he was in office? And he said "I did. But the media didn't play that bit on the news."

Same thing.

I've seen him numerous times on Democracy Now! and C-Span and such talking about corporate ownership of candidates.

18. His issues had some representation while Kucinich was running
but since Dennis dropped out, no one else is talking to these issues. If they were, Nader wouldn't be contemplating a run this year.

21. Oh, wait, Edwards did
And Nader said he wouldn't run if Edwards was in the race. Uh, oh, the dems forced Edwards out and now Nader might get in? He warned them, and they wouldn't listen. They wanted a historic race, well, they got one. They screwed the left of the party and the left aren't happy. Nader just may get 15% of the vote this time around.

divide the vote again. We get to thank Nader for Dubya.

He wouldn't have run if Gravel, Kucinich or Edwards were the nominee.

If you want to get rid of Nader vote for them.

32. If he was really concerned
he would have ran for senate by now so he would get a bigger voice, but no he'd rather mess up the general election for the presidency. He knows he has no chance, but he continues to do it anyway.
