Is China A Military Threat To America?

The Pentagon says China is a "threat," and now so do many members of Congress as actions are being taken to heavily arm America against them.

Yet China has made no threats against the U.S. and is one of the U.S.'s biggest trading partners as well as a huge financier of its debts. Without Chinese loans, the U.S. government couldn't pay its bills, nor arm heavily against anybody. So in affect, China will be asked to help fund U.S. arms production against itself.

What China wants is to continue to sell America goods and services as it has been doing, to give its people better lives and a better future.

But in the U.S. the China "threat" is being used to justify building another 198 F-22 fighter jets at $143-million each. The U.S. has already gone deeply into debt to build 183 of these jets, none of them used in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. But to build it directly employs 25,000 people in 44 states and many thousands more people are employed by sub-contractors.

Rather than continue this insanity, here's a better idea. Shut down F-22 production immediately which will slash the U.S. government budget deficit. If the real goal is to employ people at taxpayer expense, then use them to improve American schools, healthcare and the environment.

Nature, in floods, fires, hurricanes, tornados or earthquakes presents a danger that China does not. The U.S. military and its contractors could help to solve these problems. Also, the Air Force could clean-up the air it flies, the Navy could clean-up the oceans it sails, the Marines could handle drainage projects and the Army could build highways, bridges and other infrastructure,

But the U.S. military has a huge foreign presence, with over 400 military bases all over the world and wants "peace through strength." If so, instead of more weapons, bring what really matters: electricity, running water, sewage systems and other basic necessities to the 2-billion people who lack them. Build schools and hospitals and supply them, as the U.S. becomes a friend to the world, rather than threatening it with annihilation in the name of peace.

If the U.S. will invest in peace as fast as it does in war, it could uplift the world and bring a brighter future for all of us. As Americans, the choice is yours and mine to make our voices heard for peace and for sanity.

1. Absolutely Not
Because our economies are so tied in together that if one falls, we all fall.

On the contrary, I'd be more than happy to tell you about their submarine fleet and how they will be a REGIONAL powerhouse.

4. Yes and no
Are the Dallas Cowboys a threat to the Washington Redskins?

Russia and China do not want to destroy the US, they merely want to surpass us.

Difference is that between an enemy and a rival.

5. In thousands of years of civilization one would be hard pressed to find China seeking out conflict
Once again Amerikan hubris has declared every corner of the Earth to be a vital national interest.
