Fort Hood soldiers breaking the silence in war in Iraq
A growing number of active duty soldiers or recent Iraq war veterans are speaking up about the war in Iraq.

And with the number of soldiers speaking up about their experiences in Iraq via online forums, blogs and pamphlets, some vets feel it's their duty to let the American public know the truth.

"The honest truth is that if the American people knew what was going on over there everyday, they would be raising their voices too. They would be saying, 'Hey, bring those guys home," Sgt. Selena Coppa said.

Coppa blames lawmakers in Washington for filtering the facts on the war in Iraq. She said there's no real end in sight.

"There is a cost to this war. This war is being paid in American blood, in my soldier's blood. And that is not okay," Coppa said.

1. recommended....
it's as if everyone has forgotten about this nasty illegal war, because the media covers nothing but the horserace.

Thanks for posting.

2. My congressman sent out results of a constituent survey today
The number one concern is the economy. The Iraq War was 4th, almost tied with immigration.

What issue would you like Congress to address first this year?

• Balancing the budget/Fiscal Responsibility – 32.49%
• Health Care – 18.55%
• Immigration – 18.48%
• Iraq – 14.05%
• Energy – 6.70%
• Social Security – 4.09%
• Other – 3.52%
• Education – 2.12%

I was wrong. Immigration is nearly tied with health care.

7. I think the media has done a fine job of taking Iraq off of our TVs
and keeping it out of the newspapers.

So yes, probably the same top 4.

9. that is despicable...
we're all concerned about the economy for obvious reasons, but i don't want the brave men & women there to ever think we've forgotten about them. keith olbermann, who i love dearly, never talks about iraq anymore, it's almost as if most americans have bought into "the surge was a success" meme because no one is talking about it on the teevee.

Iraq is so 2007. :sarcasm:

It's sad.
