I hope this isn't true about Al Franken
but on Bill Maher's show last night, Maher says Al refuses to come on his show because of the show's "content".

That doesn't sound like Al at all

2. Very, very strange!
However, if you've read Al's books, you'd know that he's a bit more moderate than Bill Maher. But, I still don't get why the two couldn't have a funny interchange. HMMMMM????? I'd like to hear some more on this. However, it doesn't make me think less of Al!

On a happy note--my son is a graduate student living in Minnesota full time now--so he'll be voting in the Franken/Coleman election.

Go AL!!!!

3. Al's probably trying to remove himself form the 'comedy" aspect of his llife
Once he's the actual candidate, he might reconsider, but until he's the one, I can see why he chooses to "play it straight"..

GO AL !!!

16. he may feel like people wouldn't take him seriously
he's more than a comedian..I think he wants to focus on the serious side of himself for now.. Once he's got the nomination, he'll probably be back to the funny-Al..at least when it suits him :)

about how some of his "humor" may come back to haunt him.

6. Franken is operating under a different set of rules now.
He needs to act a bit more Senatorial. (<== is that a word?)

7. Didn't he say Franken's advisors had advised him not to appear?
I know he does have at least one primary opponent. Maybe Franken's campaign is getting nervous.

9. I interviewed Al two weeks ago.
Very serious, very intent on de-emphasizing the wacky stuff.

Incidentally, his "handlers" - - his staff - - - are all first rate.

12. Maher needs to get over himself
Al's running for a Senate seat. Exactly how many other senatorial candidates has he asked on his show recently? Or is it just that Bill wants the viewers who *would* tune in if Al Franken showed up?

I for one applaud Al for not going on, especially after some of Maher's *vagina candidate* comments. The man is a sexist twit with an ego that he certainly doesn't live up to.

13. Would Norm Coleman appear on Bill Maher's show?
The answer to that is a resounding no.

Al is trying to defeat Coleman. He is currently leading in the polls. He does not need the extra attention.

18. I think it was a good idea. He's trying to show that he is a serious
candidate. He doesn't want to give Coleman anything that can be used against him.
