Economists are raving maniacs! Only teachers and drug addicts make sense.
The first problem is the notion of a business failing in mid-year. A student doesn't fail until the end of the year. If you want to talk about business failure, then you have to stop being premature and start waiting until the end of the year.

The second problem is the response to a business failure. Teachers understand that to say someone "repeated a year" is the same as saying that someone failed. Repetition is the appropriate response to failure. If the people who provided the original funding for a business are too cowardly for repetition, then the government should step in and provide funding.

Now, I anticipate that some people might not be persuaded by what I just wrote. I understand the problem and I have a solution. Now please pay careful attention:

1. The appropriate response to failure is repetition.
2. In the event of failure, the appropriate response is repetition.
3. Failure is a serious problem, but there is a solution: repetition.

If you're still having trouble, then please re-read this entire message several times. Thank you.

6. I had an opportunity to use an appropriate word, but I failed to take advantage of it.

The appropriate word is "fail."

Now, I anticipate that some people might not be persuaded by what I just wrote.

I could have written, "Now, I anticipate that the above might fail to persuade some people."

Surely we all know the appropriate response to failure. Repetition!

9. Not sure what your point is, but I will say this. One reason I like drug users,
in general, is their awareness of the "bottom line".

For them, it is not a hypothetical argument, or an intellectual construct - just day to day stuff.

I appreciate that sense of reality, whatever the madness that engulfs many of their lives may entail.
