DNC to file FEC complaint against John McCain
DNC to file FEC complaint against John McCain

The DNC will file a complaint with the FEC on Monday against John McCain for his alleged violations of the campaign finance law.

Former Gov. Howard Dean, chair of the DNC, and Joe Sandler, DNC general counsel, held a press conference Sunday afternoon to announce the complaint. Gov. Dean said that McCain has already benefited from the matching funds program in 2 ways:

First, he used his future receipt of federal matching funds as collateral for a bank loan, but now wishes to withdraw from the matching funds program.

Second, a candidate who has been certified for matching funds gets free ballot access while other candidates must pay.

................

Dean said, "John McCain has made a career of pretending to be a reformer, but his reforms apply to everyone except him."

3. Unfortunately the FEC is currently inoperative
As it does not have enough committee members to do anything.

On another related issue, McCain "now wishes to withdraw from the matching funds" - which renders moot the criticism of Obama that he must cripple his campaign with the obsolete public funding system. Given that McCain is clearly trying to game the system Obama should not enter into negotiations with McCain over this issue.

4. Howard should worry about how he disenfranchised the voters of Florida and Michigan.

For a Party that claimed to be interested in "counting every vote" in 2000 we sure flip-flopped quickly.
We need to put our own house in order first before any of this overtly political nonsense.

10. Really? Do you enjoy Howard Dean canceling your Primary vote?

I don't enjoy what he did to mine. But if you want to be disenfranchised I suppose that's your business.

9. Looks like your "facts" and my statement agree with one another.

Howard Dean did disenfranchise the voters of Florida and Michigan. It was way too soon to do that after we argued that every vote must count.

What was he thinking?

This stinks to high heaven ALL around. I'd like to know which bank gave him the loan? And WHEN are we going to investigate them?

11. The same way you can use a product order to get a loan.
If you have a supplier that will sell you a product below wholesale. You then get an order from a store to purchase at a wholesale price. That forms a binding contract. You can take that order to a bank and easily borrow the money need to purchase the product to sell to the store. Sure you gotta have money to make money. But it doesn't have to be your money.
