After promising last year to search its computers for tens of thousands of e-mails sent by White House officials, the Republican National Committee has informed a House committee that it no longer plans to retrieve the communications by restoring computer backup tapes, the panel's chairman said yesterday.

The move increases the likelihood that an untold number of RNC e-mails dealing with official White House business during the first term of the Bush administration -- including many sent or received by former presidential adviser Karl Rove -- will never be recovered, said House Democrats and public records advocates.

Spokesman Danny Diaz said in a statement that the RNC "is fully compliant with the spirit and letter of the law." He declined further comment.

3. Technical Question

How can an email (emails) be lost? If I send an email to someone and then I delete it its only deleted on my computer. And does it not have to be literally removed from the computer even after it has been "deleted?"

a while back I was bored and googling and sure enough I found something I had posted on here of all places a couple years earlier and it was on a board I've never been too, I'm not sure what that was all about even. Yes Boss it is going to be so much fun when this cabal does finally fall, it'll prolly be the most fun this ole bastid, me, has ever had while still wearing clothes. I'm loking forward for just that day. This cabal cannot continue to be free and America remains a Democracy, theres just no two ways about it. My confidence is in the American ppl finally rising up and saying enough is enough. We're only one more castrophe from there today I feel.
