Should America be allowed to assassinate people in other countries?
Not to long ago there was a Law that said America could not use CIA or other Covert agents to assassinate persons in other countries. I personally thought that was a good law even if sometimes a bad person was harder to bring to justice. I just never believed we or anyone had the right to murder someone. The Bush* Cabal has turned that Law on it's head and actually celebrates and brags about killing someone in other countries. They may attach some label like Al Qaeda on the person but how do we know if they in fact really are Al Qaeda with no trial or way for the person to defend themselves. This recently happened in Pakistan where we assassinated supposedly the number three guy in Al Qaeda. I think that is wrong policy and immoral.

1. Generally it was restricted to the heads of state...
and the United States never really followed that law, at least not in spirit. We always assassinated or tried to assassinate those heads of state we didn't like, generally we kept to the word of the law, by using proxies, but other times, we just tried to kill the head of state directly. Of course, we weren't always successful, look at Castro.

3. There's no easy answer, but military don't enjoy the same protection that civilians do
Although they should be protected by the Geneva Convetnion which we can't seem to do.

4. I would have said no, but i just saw that trailer for "Wanted"
It made assassins seem bad ass and cool. So maybe it would be a good thing.

6. Allowed by what?
Who's law? The only reason anyone listens to international law is because the US Government still has the force to back it up(and it came out on the eventual winning side of all the wars before February 27th, 2008, so it gets all the spoils). If the US Government uses that force for its own purposes, who is going to stop it? Outside of a few condemnations, what would anyone do?

The only time when the US Government won't be "allowed" to murder someone is when a more powerful body exists independent of it.

7. It has been apparent for some time this Administration only follows the Laws it wants to.
Yes there is a Law that states American agents can not assassinate anyone. Yes the USA is now ignoring that law and apparently the candidates running for President are comfortable with that Law Breaking. Obama stated in the debate last night that the Administration did the right thing by killing that man in Pakistan against the government of Pakistan's wishes..He said he would do much more of that...
