More and more folks can't make it around these parts, and unfortunately a lot don't have family to help and as a result they end up homeless, living on the street.
Others are having serious trouble paying their mortgage and keeping up with debt, and some are taking the drastic measure of walking away from their mortgage and ruining their credit.
So, more people living on the street, and more houses sitting abandoned and unused. Here in my city.
What a world!

I live in vacation home central. Million dollar homes that get used for 2 weeks during christmas.
Total waste. Just like this housing crisis.

...vacation rentals, for sure...how about the vacation rentals that get abandoned for years at a time...the have been houses I wished I could look up the owner's name and tell them I'd rent from them and take care of their house, for christ's sake!
very crazy world, and it is going to get a whole lot weirder, I'm afraid

Some neighborhoods are already experiencing some issues with squatters taking up residence in foreclosed homes. Apparently many foreclosed houses still have working utilities for a period of weeks, so they work out pretty well as squats. And going back a few years, friends of mine in NYC squatted in empty lofts, etc., for years before they were able to afford NYC rents in legit apartments.
