Is this cartoon really what Democrats believe about the GOP? (By the way, the execution of the cartoon satire is excellent!) You do have certain metaphors mixed up but I do get the message. If this is not hate mongering of the worst kind, I don't know what is. This is precisely why George Washington in his Farewell Address warned about political parties. The lack of compromise on the GOP side is no reason to stoop to their level.

The cartoon is simply a version of the complex pantheon of the Church of the SubGenius. SubGenius references fit well into any kind of conspiratorial or religious discussion.

2. You can always turn off those ads, you know... |

Since you're a paying member, that is an option that is open to you...

control over the ads.
Ads come as a result of the probability that the term, in this case "republican," comes up on a particular site.
That said. I can't see it; I have the ads turned off.

9. But they did choose to get into the Google Ad money |
|
I think we are witnessing the consequence of accepting advertising revenue. It's like a camel, once it's nose is in the tent pretty soon so is its piss and manure. Like hog farms in Iowa, it's the smell of money. Depending on how it impacts your wallet you like that smell or you don't.

6. Happens occaisionally. |
|
Some of the ads are automatically placed by Google based on the content of the page. Occasionally whatever algorithm they use to do this gets it wrong.
I believe there's a way to report this to the Powers That Be... No one is happy when this happens, not the admins, not the Goog, and probably not even the republicans.

10. So what's the problem here? |

You see an ad for McCain every so often yet no one here will click it anyways. Think of it as free money the server is getting.

11. Take One For The Team...Click On It... |
|
I get ads for a wingnut opposing Dick Durbin...and I get the ad forced at me at several sites. At first I was pissed, then I figured that if there's a "click-through" on the link, that person will have to pay the site operator...and better this asshat's money going to Josh Marshall or Digby than to his own campaign.
The same applies here...click on the link and DU will get a nice "contrabution" from someone I'm sure won't be too amused to find out.

15. Exactly. One caveat though |
|

If you click on the ad and then leave or close the tab, that's considered a bounce. The advertiser will still get charged but google has a magic formula that reduces the monthly cost of bounces. If you really want hit the tip jar, you need to click on more than one page to become a non-bounce visitor.
