1. How is this for a platform?
Edited on Wed Feb-27-08 05:49 PM by Vincardog
#1 No amnesty for any of the criminal thugs currently in control
#2 Declare victory on the war on drugs and quit waring against our own people.
#3 Eminent Domain can not be used to take private property for CORPORATE benefit.
#4 Corporations are not people they have no HUMAN RIGHTS.
#5 IF the Bush appointments to the Supreme court do not retire;
Appoint 5 new young pro-life anti-corporate supremes.
#6 sunset any law that benefits corporations for sending jobs overseas.
#7 End the illegal occupation of Iraq NOW.
#8 Eliminate the CAP on SSI. Every dollar of income should pay in.
#9 Pass a law that every time Congress raises its' own pay, minimum wage goes up by an identical amount.
#10 Universal single payer health care for all. Simply eliminate the age requirement for Medicare.
#11 Require every trade deal to include enforceable environmental and labor conditions. (no more sending toxic pollution and child labor overseas).

4. hand counted paper ballots!
I think they should just stick to the Kucinich platform myself.
We need to focus on electing Democrats to Congress that will cut the funding to Iraq, and sign onto HR676. We need Universal Single Payer Health care now! People are dying for God's sake!!
Find progressive candidates in your area

We need to change the Democratic party from within.

5. Great suggestions . . .
Edited on Wed Feb-27-08 11:37 PM by defendandprotect
All terrific --- now why don't the Democrats think of those?
I imagine they do . . . but something puts a little distance between them and and us ---
wonder what it could be?

Let me add ---

#1: No pardons for the criminal thugs currently in control ---
#2: Let everyone convicted of non-violent drug offenses out of prison ---

#5: OK on five new young ones --- but "pro" whose life? The fetus or the female?

#9: Congress should not be permitted to raise their own salaries ---

“If the Democrats can’t landslide the Republicans this year, they ought to just wrap up, close down, emerge in a different form.” If moderates don’t feel moved to repudiate the past 7 years of idiocy, and by huge margins, it’s time to declare the patient dead.
But I am a progressive and President Obama will need to know that there remain a lot of issues over here to the left of things that still need to be addressed. And the puppeteer who holds a donkey puppet in one hand and an elephant puppet in the other needs to know that we see him up there."

2. Simply state "We will protect Americans' Second Amendment right to own firearms" and eliminate the
the contradictory and unnecessary additional words from the 2004 platform that says the following:
"We will protect Americans' Second Amendment right to own firearms, and we will keep guns out of the hands of criminals and terrorists by fighting gun crime, reauthorizing the assault weapons ban, and closing the gun show loophole, as President Bush proposed and failed to do."

3. And, on top of that...
...they can take that statement out of the Crime and Violence section. Talk about bad framing!

7. If the Dem Party adopts your gun-control position, it will lose the White House and congress. That's
what cost Gore and Kerry their elections.

8. In other words, NRA thugs have control of our elections?
Edited on Thu Feb-28-08 11:58 AM by defendandprotect
The public -- the police -- do not want a "Wild West America" ---
they want gun control.

9. Voters still play a role and voters overwhelmingly support the right to keep and bear arms for
self-defense. That's why the Democratic Party supports RKBA.
