Hold on to your hats DU'ers, the nightmare begins.
I just got my first tele-marketer phone call on my cell phone. I thought that cell phone calls were against the law. It was someone conducting a national survey. I told him never to call again, and lose my phone number.
I put the cell phone number on the national do-not-call list years ago, just checked to see that it is still on the list, but got the spam-call anyway.

2. I've always been of the opinion that after the initial hoopla, |
|
The do-not-call lists were going to be unenforced laws. One of those wink, wink, nudge, nudge type of deals, where after a certain amount of time the corporate callers will be allowed to gradually creep back in without penalization.

3. I have put all my contacts in the "phone book" in my cell, when it rings |
|
it shows me who's calling, if they're not in the phone book it tells me, I do not answer. If they're not in my book they have no business calling my cell.

5. The "Do Not Call Registry" is a facade ... a law without teeth. |
|
Just TRY getting the telephone company or cell phone company to provide the tools to identify and file a valid complaint against THEIR LARGEST CUSTOMERS. It's an evil joke. And what happens if someone, somewhere actually manages to successfully pursue a compalint and have a fine levied against some company that hasn't yet "flown by night"??? What's one $500 fine for every 10,000 calls? A nickel? Big deal.
Such "laws" are mere window dressing for a Legislative storefront that serves the Corporate interests.

I traced the number to Pacific Market Research. I'll call AT&T tomorrow and see what complaining will do. http://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-425-282-5526
